Hahaha... over here the message is slightly different but says the same thing.

"this message authorised by (insert name here) (insert Party here) (insert address here)".

Thankfully our election is today (insert climactic "YES" here.) A five week campaign with no ads permitted from last night. Putting up with the long electoral foreplay you have in America would drive us all round the twist.

It comes from the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reforms passed two years ago. Its purpose is to let the public know who's paying for the ads they watch on TV or hear on the radio.

Candidates have been required to parrot the message in all of their ads starting July 1.
