What songs move you?

Post by downhill »

Yeah we"ve down this before...but it's time again. :D

When Faust put up his thread, I had just started, U2's The Joshua Tree...

Now I have an MFSL version, but on the older stereo, I've never really cared for the mix....

With the newer setup, I'm floored......but putting all that aside, The Joshua Tree is just one of them albums that is really timeless....Most of the songs on this album, give me goosbumps.....

In God's Country, Red Hill Mining Town, One Tree Hill.......

I think I'll spin this one, one more time.....

Sooooo...what full albums move you? The idea of an album full of good songs, let alone great songs is rare, but they ARE out there...

Be right back.
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

That is my favorite U2 album, as well as one of the best albums of all time! I think that "bullet the blue sky" is my favorite u2 song.

"Last Kiss" - Pearl Jam . I don't like the song, it's just so depressing.

"November Rain" - Guns N Roses

Nothing else really elicits a response, I just listen to it because I like it. Those two are different.

Off the top of my head......

The album "Closer" by Joy Division.... add the song "Ceremony" to that.
"Thousands are Sailing" the Pogues
"O'Malley's Bar" Nick Cave
"one" U2
"Rid of Me" Polly Jean Harvey
Beethoven 9th, 4th movement
The album "Movin' Wes" Wes Montgomery
"Time" Pink Floyd
I want to learn more and more to see as beautiful what is necessary in things; then I shall be one of those who make things beautiful. Amor fati: let that be my love henceforth! I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yes-sayer.

"Albums that move me"....

Hmmm....to average out the album that has the most songs that bring me goosebumps.

Even though it's kind of a newer album for him...Bruce Springsteen "Tunnel of Love". I like a lot of his older stuff, singing about the older guy who's been through a lot in life, pain, sadness, good times and bad times, in and out of love, all in a slow whiskey toned voice. But this album has quite a number of songs that I really identify with.

Specifically on the album:

*Tougher than the rest
*All the Heaven will allow
*Walk Like a Man
*Brilliant Disguise
*One Step Up
*When You're Alone

Stuff that can really water your eyes and give you goosebumps if you sit and listen to the words after having a few drinks. Anyone has this album, give these songs a serious listen to when you're alone and can seriously listen to the lyrics. Good music and powerful lyrics.
