Anyone Get The Strap From A Teacher..??

Post by Spicer »

When you were younger, did you ever receive the *Strap* or the *Pointer* from your teacher in school....

I got the strap a cpl of times....Pointer was a fear factor...Usually slapped on the desk..... (Attention Getter) .....I think I remember once getting smacked with it also...

No, never. I was a good little boy. :D
Actually, the fear of my father kept me in line, didn't need any dicipline from the school.
I was the class clown. and usually had my teachers in stitches.

In grade 8 I had a metal working teacher who was an ex Toronto argo football player. He had a baseball bat sliced lenghthwise in half. It wasn't round, it had a flat side. One whack with that on yer butt and you never got out of line in his class again.

I saw many a tough guy go girlie after being hit with that thing.

Today, that teacher would be put in jail.

Yep.....They would be.....

This is the Supreme Court Ruling Today in regards to Teachers/Parents/Sitters....Yada Yada....

Parents can legally spank their children, the Supreme Court ruled Today.....Jan 30/2004

By a 6-3 vote, the Justices upheld Section 43 of the Criminal Code, which allows parents and authority figures to use “reasonable force” on children under their care. But they applied new limits to the century-old law.

They ruled that parents cannot use corporal punishment on infants or for teenagers, cannot strike with objects and cannot hit the head of a child.

The general rule, set out by Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin, is that corporal punishment should be legally acceptable must involve only “minor corrective force of a transitory and trifling nature.”

My old man wouldn't allow anyone, including teachers, lay a hand on me.

He would tell them "I'll handle him"

I'd rather have gotten the strap, believe me.

One teacher in grade 5 made me hold my arms out straight, for a couple of hours with large text books in my hands because I was talking (probably joking around) in class.

My dad asked me why I was rubbing my shoulders at dinner. I told him what happened. He got up from dinner, his face beat red, viens in neck bulging, and he went over to the school.

That teacher never once even spoke mean to me again.
He was nice as pie to me from there after. :D
I don't know what my dad did. He never spoke of it.

I got whacked by the vice principal with the wooden paddle in junior high. That was the first and last time I was ever disciplined by a spanking for doing something bad. I learned my lesson :D

I don’t think they can do that anymore, but back when I was in school, junior high and elementary they could still do that for disciplinary action, but it could only be done by the principal or the vice principal.

In elementary school I was disciplined a few times, but not spanked.

I can't recall a teacher slapplin the desk with a stick, but it could have happened.

I was the smartest guy in school and I get A+ in behaviour and attendance in elementary.

I still got slapped, yelled at and humiliated. I'd go and frigging burn them now if I ever see them. Bunch of jealous teachers can't stand a good thing.

Oh, I got accused of lying when I didn't. That made me feel so angry and sad. I hate those bitches!!@!!@#

Sometimes, we get to stand outside of the classroom and hold our ears until the teacher let us back in. Sometimes we have to kneel down and hold our ears.

I still hate them...

btw, I was captain of the class 6 years in a row.. :D so I'm usually the guy who gets people punished.. it was fun

I remember once in Middle School, i got in trouble in class and they called the dean on me, then I told him to not call my parents cuz my dad is a minister and he would be ashamed.......when he heard that my dad was a minister, the look of fear and death combined came over him entire face, and he started apologizing to me and he asked me to not tell my dad that he was going to reprimand me......the guy looked like he was about to cry, you had to be there to appreciate it!!! :rotfl:

in HS, some guy was running down the hall and bumps into me, then has the audacity to get in my face and accuse me of trying to trip him, so he pushes me, I punched him out and a teacher in a nearby classroom grabs me by my wrist and tries to pull me, where I dunno, but I did warn him several times to take his hands off of me, he failed to comply, I failed to not push him through a close door and onto the floor.

Yes. One time in Elementary and a few times in middle school. In my sixth grade year I had a teacher Mr. Holland. He was cool as hell and a huge dude, biggest man I had seen to that point probably. He had this gray paddle about 3/4 of an inch thick, duct tape on the handle and "SUPER HOLLAND" written on both sides :rotfl: I forget what I had done then but me and another kid were gonna get it. Three Swats out in the hall grab your ankles...the whole deal. It hurt but only for awhile and I of course got some from the old man when I got home.

Yes. Maybe a dozen times.
In those days here it was legal to carry out corporal punishment and without parental approval. Most times the parents would take it to round 2 and whack you at home for getting the cane at school.
Back in my schooldays the teachers had lengths of cane the thickness of a biro. The maximum strokes across the tips of the fingers was six for each offence at the teacher's discretion. There were restrictions on how far back the teacher could lift the cane before bringing it down but I can assure you it hurt.
One Deputy Principal we had was 6'4" and there were marks on the ceiling from the cane as it hit on the way down. Fearsome sound just before impact too and he was so accurate.
My Year 7 teacher at primary school had a selection of 5 different canes that varied in length. These were kept above the blackboard in a gunrack screwed to the wall.

Maybe that's what's wrong with the education system today. Not enough suitable punishment for students who are disruptive or just plain rude. Time to get a bit of respect for the teachers.

not sad, better

kids these days lack dicipline because parents and teachers are being told what they can and can't do to punish kids

My friend Rick and myself....Both got the strap one day, in the office at the same time...(Messin Round In Assembly)...

Anyway, it was Rick's first time for the strap...I told him to stay steady, don't move your hand....He'll whack ya again for that..LOL!!

What's he do....Gets scared and just as the principal is on the downstroke, Rick flinched his hand....Got it across the finger tips....

That was always the point of aim for the cane Spice. The tips of the fingers to the second joint in on an upturned hand. Somtetime they would give 3 on one and the rest on the other hand, then send you back to class to continue the lesson. Writing was very hard but you had to do it.

I agree with you even after going through all of it that there is a place for it in today's schools.

I agree 100%. They should still be allowed to paddle students if necessary. Maybe then they would respect someone or something.

And yes I got swatted a few times in school

Once in elementary school but not by a strap but the PADDLE. It wasn't by a teacher, it was by the principal.

My pop came up after receiving the call and said if anybody is going to paddle my child it's going to me, not you. Yeah he threatened the principal bodily harm.

i think its real easy to say u want teachers to still be able to do that to kids "maybe they would have respect or whatever" and yea i agree to some extent. But then i think about it as if it were my child, If my kid came home and told me that his teacher hit him with anything i think he/she would not go back to that school except after the lawsuits..

i would not accept ANYONE hitting my child.

The same with me, nobody will put thier hands on my child but me. I've had some pretty mean spirited teachers in my day, that I'm sure whould've whacked a kid for anything they could if allowed to. Of course if he gets in trouble in school I will do what is necessary to reprimand him.

The problem is, I gave some of my teachers hell when I was school. No rudness or backtalk, just being mischievous. So I don't know how I'll handle it when the time comes.

Like in high school when we were dissecting rats. I cut the tail off, wrapped a paper clip around it, and hung it on the belt loop of the girl sitting in front of me. My God you should have heard the commotion in the hall, when the bell rang for class to change. :rotfl:

Of course they knew it was me, because of where I was sitting, and I was always up to something.

I'm in deep do-do if my kid takes after me, I guess catch-backs really are a bitch. :D

Ways I was disciplined by teachers from grade school through high school:

1. grabbed by hair
2. grabbed by ears
3. wooden paddles
4. humiliated in front of classmates
5. 3 sided rulers to the knuckles
6. metal paddle
7. foot in arse
8. detention
9. suspension
10. excersizes (run laps, pushups, leg lifts etc)

Any regret? No, because no lasting damage done and I deserved most all of it!
