Umm...well to tell you all the truth, it wasn't removed because it was a repost...........

And to be sure, it was in a grey area as to if it met SG's PG13 guidelines.......and the others were also removed, I believe..

A judgement call......
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

for compliance sake I have a question.....

If it is not of good enough nature to be suitable for SG (PG-13) is a link OK? Say I have some pics of topless chicks and I want to share but I just post a link to them and it is not on SG is that breaking the rules? It is not coming via the SG server it is coming from outside the SG realm and just linked.

What do ya say?

What wouild be the difference? It's either a PG13 site or it isn't.

The difference is that it is not directly on SG. It is hosted elsewhere and at that following any link can take you to see a number of different things. Say the pictures on CNN of Saddam's sons. Was that PG-13? Seemed to be a little big graphic to me. Is any kind of killing/murder PG-13? I am just asking if it is considered that way. I have no pictures to post however, it does seem as though certain things are allowed to pass and others aren't when in fact none of it is PG-13.

Although not really posted in detail in the Rules PG 13 isn't that hard to figure.

I kinda go by what Ken suggested a long time ago. If it's something that I think I would feel uncomfortable have a 13 year old girl, view.....then it's either over the edge or boderline.

Again and I can't figure out why anyone has a problem with this.

1.This is first off, a tech site. As such, there are professionals that use it for information. We would like to keep it that way. :)

2. There are plenty of sites that allow you a basic "post what you will" type of forum. Some of you already visit them.

Now in saying that, Philip is really pretty generous with what he does allow here. Be gracious enough to accept that and understand that anyone can play here for free..... :)

Now.....just for those who prefer to not look at the rules....from the bottom....

By the way, this isn't a paying job. We (the staff) do this because we love this place.

Lance, there is a difference. Anytime we get someone posting links to porn....the mods get a slew of email. If the link goes to say......AMD's site...we never get a one. What would that indicate to you? To me, it indicates that there are a lot of folk who agree with how things are handled here.

Of course there are dissenting opinions and the fact that they are allowed to post them, also indicates Philip's generosity. :)

Those who would like the story... PM me.

It was my post... and it was a little over the line.

I have no problem at all with it being removed.

Like I say... PM me if you want to take a look at it.

Can anyone read here anymore? Seriously? I said that the story was a repost and it was removed (deleted) the first time it was posted because of questionable content. Then somehow the thread goes off on a tangent and people starts talking about how reposts should not be deleted. WTF? Where the hell did this come from? And what do reposts have to do with anything?

Now in reguards to what was posted in the thread in question.

The first thread posted about 2 weeks ago was deleted because it violated the PG-13 Rule, and so was the thread in question here. Deal with it.
Respect it.

heh seems like everyone is getting a little uptight over my question. Well, just to put everyone at ease, I am not trying to defy or challenge the authority here at SG. I am just asking the question so that it has been asked and answered.

Consider it this way. If I were to now go and post something that was wrong (ie. porn) I should probably suffer some severe consiquences. I have asked the question and it was fully answered.

I guess it is just my nature to look for potential loop-holes and identify them. With that being said, the rules have now been clearly defined in regards to this.

Thank you for the clarification

Lance, the pictures of Sadam's sons were asked about before they were posted. John said that if they publicly posted those images on the news, that it would be allowed here. Grant you, those pictures were disturbing to some, but the point is that approval was granted before the posting of the pictures, otherwise they would not have been here at all.

don't worry blebbs99 there is no fire. I am not disgruntled in any form. I may have ruffled someones tail feathers unintentionally by asking the question but, I have explained that it was not my intention to upset anyone. Just wanted clarification.

And because they were on the news that makes them PG13????? Our local news channel would Not show those pics and I agree they are definitely NOT PG13...as I said before its all in whose interpretation we are going by today. So Don't say read the rules...Everyone can interpret them differently..A clarification was called for and rightly so...Now we All know.

No, direct links to PG-13 (Mainly Pornographic) Material on the forums are not appropriate and have been deleted or edited out in the past at the mods discresion. However something like.

"Lance's topless mom" PM me for a link. Would be acceptable. And it has been done in the past most recently with the Naked Cartoon "Nvidia Girl"

Those pictures would NOT have been allowed had it not been pre-approved. I agree that they were not in the best interest nor were PG-13. It was a judgement call, just like the news channels around my house. Some had no problem showing them, some did and wouldn't. It's a fine line with rules sometimes, but when in doubt ask the admin or moderators for clarification BEFORE posting possible objectionable material. :p
