I think MudVayne is a kick a s s band, very original, high powered, good s h i t but "The New Slayer" 1985-2002 and still as good as they have always been, maybe better, I have loved Slayer from Hell Awaits right to God Hates Us All. I'm just glad to see some of the hard metal is starting to come back. There is a few hard bands poping up now.

Depends on what your definition of hard metal is.
Most of the really hard stuff is Euro-Metal. They have a HUGE death/doom/black metal scene going on right now.
Dimmu Borgir is one of these great bands. I suggest you check them out if you haven't already.
There are so many cool bands out right now and there is a huge underground/indie scene.
I was however very saddened when Fear Factory called it quits.
the word on the net right now is that Metallica will release a new album soon and from early indications...it will be scary. They seemingly rediscovered their roots. Imagine that.
If the Metallica album is a killer...then rest assured, Metal will see another resuurgence but keep in mind....it could prove to be another 80's type rehash. I hope not.
