hehe.

I also find it amusing AMD recommends pretty crappy motherboards. Exception = MSI. :)

I kinda wondered about that too. Wonder why they only recommended those? I have a Shuttle AK35GT2R that I would think would work just fine with that processor and is a better board to me then most on their list.

I'm shocked to see a pos board like ECS on that "reccommended" list. I don't see Epox tho

I think they put ECS on there for it's "supposed" stability that some ppl claim, granted that is, if you can get it to pass the POST - but ya' take a chance when deciding to shut that mobo down, it may never post again :rotfl: But tell ya' what the local German PC shops around here swear by it [ECS] for some reason and that the word "ASUS or ASUSTek" is like "swearing" at them, kid you not - noticed this in 4 different shops here. EliteGroup ECS is like a God to these ppl.

Giga-byte is an ok mobo, have they fixed their Dual BIOS prob yet?

I use ECS mobos quite frequently, specifically the K75SA.

1) It's cheap ($53.99 at NewEgg)
2) It supports almost all AMD XP Procs
3) It supports both DDR and SDRAM
4) It has onboard audio and LAN

Granted, if you're big on sound quality, integrated sound isn't what you want, but other than that, this mobo is very cost effective and I've used it as a base for many good comps.
