Cacheman5'11 vs X-Setup6'2 in aspect of oportunity of tweaking memory
...after recomendation on TweaksForum once more I instal
X-Setup6'2 to compare with Cacheman5'11..
X-Setup method of recording is not useful for monitor actual settings;
setings is diffues in several places & NOT EASY TO FIND
see below for: w9x/SE/ME
X-Setup~System|>Advanced performance settings|
>>Windows 9x/ME Expert Settings
MaxBPs; MinTimeSlice; WindowUpdateTime; PageBuffers
X-Setup~Hadrware|>SystemSetings|>>ComputerRole|
standard & only a few fixed options (NameCache&PathCache)
X-Setup~System|>Memory|>>GeneralMemorySettings|
[v]Unload DLL directly; [O]Resolve more memory for DOS
X-Setup~System|>>FileSystem|>>>Performance
>>>>32bit DiskAccess|
>>>>DMA BufferSize| [??}
>>>>FileAllocationCache| as max 4096
>>>>FileCache| Min[??]; Max[??]; ChukSize[??];
CONCLUSION
Cacheman5'11 is MUCH beter in adpect tweaking memory than X-Setup6'2
1. have more setting options
2. have wider range of values
3. have pre-definited option = several diferent profiles
4. ease create new own profiles
5. ease record and see (monitor) all values
I strongly recomend Cacheman5'11
for tweaking memory

Something everyone must understand..... these apps all do the exact same thing, they all set the exact same settings and tweak all the same things, period. If you like a different gui to do it in or like to have more instructions then that is your preference. All of these tweaks can also be done manually, it's just much easier and nicer to do it with an app. But there is absolutely NO reason to spend your hard earned money on something that you can do for FREE...... that is my whole point in posting this. These tweaks are not difficult to understand or difficult to do....... I have looked at and read about or tried just about every tweaking app that looks promising just to see what they offer and NOTHING is as thorough as X-Setup, as I said they ALL tweak the same things so there is no point in having 4 or 5 different apps or spending your money on them, even if you prefer to do it manually you can find all the information for FREE on the internet. Take the time and read and learn, it makes it much more interesting when you understand how and why a tweak works.

as I cleary explain above compare both prg
Cacheman5'11 vs X-Setup6'2
UNFORTUNATELY
DO NOT set the exact same settings
&
UNFORTUNATELY
DO NOT tweak all the same things
in my calculation the first one is winer in both aspects
GUI much beter have the first one
I agree (I like so much) with that way of thinking that:
when in apropriate way bind together:
notepad + registryeditor + knowledge
one can possess the most powerful tool
for me particular important is the last component
for me progress in thi mater is depended to usefulness & access to knowledge
again in this aspect the first one is the winer

I'm just after first look on WinGuides Tweak Manager 1'1 http://www.winguides.com/tweak/
look fine, GUI is beter, "memTweaks" are symilar but rage is very narow
compate to Cacheman5'11
I have not time to compare in details.
LOBO pay attention you are talking about:
WinGuides Tweak MANAGER 1'1
acctualy I'm before Tweakmaster 1'7 http://www.hageltech.com/download/twkmastr.exe
pay attention MASTER!
but Tweakmaster 1'7 it is Internet Connector Optymalizator
not all in one REG tool
so I'm not interesting in it.

Something everyone must understand.....
You can do all these setting changes and more, IF you simply take the time to actually learn about the OSs you are fooling with, instead of buying (or stealing) apps willy-nilly.
Many of these settings changed, are meaningless to performance, or will actually reduce performance.
Many are simply cosmetic.
A very great many can be done from within the OS itself and need no 3rd party app to do so.
ALL can be done with simple merging of registry files.
Many of these actually have NO effect of WinXP or WIN2k (after SP1)
Pay money and learn nothing
or
Take the time to learn and you can see how useless apps like these really are, IF you have some idea of what actually needs/doesn't need to be done.
Your choice.
Yea, lemme guess

Take the time to learn and you can see how useless apps like these really are, IF you have some idea of what actually needs/doesn't need to be done.![]()
Your choice.
Yea, lemme guess![]()
Its pretty much what Mnosteeles been saying. I agree 100% with you.

I ain't got time to bleed

UOT&BTW for me A used quote & some smiles
is like practising sport or 6(i to e): alone; on armchair: in front of TVset...
1>is it waisting of energy to practise alone?
2>is it give one longer complacency?
I recomend go to bed. One can grow up during sleep.
in actual prgs' status for me not posible compare
WG Tweak Manager1'1 with X-Setup6'2
first one have NOT active upg as second have
WG Tweak Manager1'1
have beter GUI, easy to export reg tweak,
but some filds are closed (activate after upg?= buy?)
on open filds are good,
a litle MORE items (interesting for me) then in second prg
I do not know is it worth it's prize.
X-Setup6'2
GUI dificult only on first look
upg is good
all functions OK
edition of pugins opened: knowlege and source links
modyfication of prgFavorites is easy and can build target group
below detailed instruction Modyf prg Favorites
go to C:\Program Files\X-Setup\cfg\favorites.ini
change name .ini to ini.sou (.sou as source file)
open in any editor and save as .txt
so you receive file favorites.ini.sou.txt
edit it and delate all below [Favorites]
than copy below [Favorites] as explained: fromV to^
