9/11 Situation (School)

Post by aagiants »

I am kinda upset, and always have been, on how 9/11 was handled by my highschool...

As you know it happened around 9:40, and everyroom in our school is equipped with Cable tv... by 11'oclock i heard rumors of the situation, but found it hard to believe. From orders by the principal of the school, all TV's, Internet etc, was shutoff so NO One could Actually find out whats happeneing. They tried to black us out, and randomly people were Called to the mainoffice (parents called in) and us students had NO idea what was going on. Only until the last minute of school did we get any offical announcment..

What do you think.. I wasw really pissed about this.. and what do you think i could do... This was done by a 1st year pricipal

I agree.

Missing one day of education seems to be a little trivial if I am to put myself in your principals shoes. The principal should have closed school or at least turned on all the televisions.

I can understand them doing that in elementary schools (they did that here for my daughters school) as it's better for the kids of that age to be with their parents...high school kids on the other hand, are much more capable of handling that...I was in my senior year when the Challenger exploded...it was horrific to watch, but I'm glad that we were able to see the news coverage that we did...

yeah our school let us watch it on the news...all the tvs were on by 10 o clock and we were let out early too.

almost all the teachers just let everyone watch the tv all day instead of worrying about classes

As a parent I would have addressed the principal. Did any do so?

Also, did the principal allow the students that where contacted by parents to leave school?

Indy,

I remember the Challenger Explosion like it was yesterday. I was in Chemistry when it happened. :(

In my school i was going to math class and someone said a plane was flying around the WTC and i was like wtf?? so my teacher turned on the tv and we watched it for the whole period. at the end of that period..i think 3rd the princapal told everyone to go back to the school work......I think it was like JFK for my parents...everyone that was alive for that can probly tell you where they where and what happened and the names of people IE teachers and friends...i still remember who said the planes were flying afound the WTC and the teachers name and i dont think i will forget any of it.
We have seen their kind before. They're the heirs of all the murderous ideologies of the 20th century. By sacrificing human life to serve their radical visions, by abandoning every value except the will to power, they follow in the path of fascism, Nazism and totalitarianism. And they will follow that path all the way to where it ends in history's unmarked grave of discarded lies.

This happened all over the place. It wasnt only in your school. Many schools had all the TV's, computers and any other source of outside information turned off. I personally think that everyone should have been alerted of the situation (maybe not younger kids).

Just so you know they did the same thing at every airport in the US. Same reason. To prevent panic. People in groups ARE dumb herd animals. They will absolutely do the most stupid things imagineable if blind panic takes hold.

I was on my 6th call of the day as a cable TV installer, threaded the Coax on, ran the auto channel settings and bam, it was there, the Challenger.
Few thing reach that magnetude that they stick with you for the rest of your life, the Challenger was one, Kennedy, The first steps on the moon and Them first shots on CNN of the bombing in Iraq. Then the shots the towers falling.
Any educator that blocks these events from their pupils should loose their position

I can't believe people just accept this. People are so f***ing scared of "authority." The attitude should be, either turn the damn TV on so that we can see one of the most important events of our lives --- or else we're leaving!

Well, obviously if you don't know anything you wouldn't care, but I've heard of this happening at a lot of schools where everybody heard about it through cell phones but the administration took this fascist attitude of we're not going to interrupt the school day for it.

I agree Torsten, People have to start realizing that we are the majority and quite bending over for these Fu*ks that think they know whats best. The more we just accept what they are saying and follow along like sheep, with our eyes closed complacent to everything, the worse it's all going to get. Before you know it all of our freedows will be stripped away, useing the excuse of Natioal Security. We the people are the ones with the power believe it of not. Stand up for our freedom. Township Rebelion.
