AMD Athlon 1GHz To 1.2 GHz, 1.3GHz (Overclocking And Cooling)

Post by ze2o »

Hey guys I have a 1 Ghz AMD Athlon, planning to overclock to 1.2 Ghz or 1.3 ghz, do you think using the Thermaltake DRAGON ORB 3 will be sufficeint enough cooling for the cpu? I have 2 Case Fans+ Exahst Fan From Enermax PSU (I dont think case cooling will be a problem) Please post your oppinions on cooling and safe cpu temperatures.

- Thank you

No. If you're gonna oc and wanna save money, get the Volcano7 or 7+. If you really wanna go big and have the money, go for the Thermalright AX7 with a 68cfm Delta fan. The Dragon orb ain't gonna do much. You wanna stay in the 37-43c temps @ full load. I have my XP1700 oc'ed and my temps with a Volcano7 is 34c idle,37-39c full load.

The Dragon Orb wouldn't cool my 300mhz celeron, if I ever owned one.

Temperature is important, but not by standard means.

You want a (CPU - Ambient) temp under 15C at full load.
