TTL value

I recently did the tcp/ip analyzer thing and it said this:
Time to live left = 121 hops
TTL value is ok
What is time to live and what does it mean?

From the site:

DefaultTTL is a Windows Registry value that specifies the default Time To Live set in the header of outgoing IP packets. TTL determines the maximum amount of time an IP packet can live in the network without reaching its destination. It is effectively a limit on the number of routers an IP packet may pass through before being discarded.

It really has no effect on speed, for broadband a good value is 64 and for dialup 128 is good.

if it really doesn't have an effect on speed, how can you say which is good for which ?

Did you read the definition? A lower value is fine for a high speed connection because an IP packet will reach it's destination faster, a higher value is better for a slower connection because of the opposite.

oo, I must of missed that

... I've tried both of them.. doesn't make a differance so I rather leave it at default
