ATTBI is being a @#$%^!

Post by fAt_sUnNy »

Hey guys,

I needed some serious help so I knew this was the place to come to for help. I had ATTBI for close to a month and I didn't want to rent their modem so I purchased my own and returned theirs, which was a Motorola Surfboard 4100. The one I bought is a Surfboard 4200. I used it and registered it and it worked. Then when I ran like Counter Strike it would crash my connection. It would crash it when I would update the server list. Then I have to keep resetting the modem whenever this happens to make it work again. I talked with the ATTBI Tech gys and they said that this is a problem with the maker of the game and that I should go to them for help. Have you guys seen these kinds of problems? PLEASE help me out there guys.

do you use a router? If so, i have some settings you could put in to your router configs depending on the maker of it. The problem could lie in your computer itself, have you tried reinstalling counter strike after you got the new modem? That might help, and then defragging to fix any errors in files/folders. Also make sure your NIC is working properly.

No I'm sorry I don't use a router. I use a Linksys Hub 8 port.

I would have tried all the thing you asked me to but the thing is that I already tried this on the other computers on my network and it didn't work :( .

But thanks for your help. Maybe you can help me with this issue : I have three computers connected through a hub to my cable modem. I used Network Places and tried to see if the network worked. It only worked for two of the the three computers. I use the NetBEUI Protocol and then it worked, but I heard that NetBEUI Protocol is not safe. If you can help me out, please do.

netbui is really fine. Nothing can stop hackers from getting into your system. If they want in they will get in no matter what. Its just not having anything on your comp that is appealing to them. how are you getting the internet through a hub? I had a linksys hub and everything was working great on the network but not with the broadband when I finally got it. I just went and bought a router and everything was great. I was under the impression that only routers could split the internet and not a common hub? i guess i was under a false impreseion

Well I just did a normal installation with the hub and it worked. Maybe you didn't plug the cable coming from your modem into the "uplink" port on the hub. Well I wanna get a router. Do you know anyone who might wanna...you know..."buy one"?
