NO! Not more BACON!
NO! Not more BACON!
Not a meat-bashing thread, so no flames por favor.
BUT, as a vegetarian I can't stand the smell of cooking meat. After 15 years of not eating red meat my body freaks at the smell.
So it's a bit unfortunate that my apartment shares a wall and kitchen ventilation system with a house, and that when the folks next door cook bacon they turn the vent on and somehow fill my apartment with the smell of cooking bacon.
Matter of opinion, I know. But I am *hurl* about to vomit. Look out.

I like bacon, but can't stand the smell of it cooking...weird, huh? Also can NOT stand the smell of Sauer Kraut...my mom use to make it for my dad all the time, and the smell of it makes me sick to my stomach...

Love beats...I could eat them all day long...that and black olivesOriginally posted by Joint Chiefs Of Staff
I love sauerkraut!
I can't eat beats. I hurl instantly just spelling those good forsaken roots. I've been like that since a small child.

Instead of planting them 1/2" apart then later thinning them to 4" apart, we just planted them 4" apart in the first place (most vegetable seed has high 90% germination rate the first year).
Instead of the 10' row the packet referred to, we now have 10 individual 12' rows
120' planted every 4". Comes out to like 200 POUNDS of beets!
Now I know where to send all of the extra beets. Can you send me your address please?

Some people turn vegetarian for certain reasons (ethical, health) but would still eat it if they wouldn't be bothered by whatever reasons made them quit in the first place.Originally posted by grundy
I had a vegetarian roomate who loved the smell of cooking meat. I could never figure that one out.
Hell, for the first few years I still thought some cooking meat still smelled great. I can deal with it, I don't freak out or anything, my stomach just starts getting a *bit* unsettled.
Since I'm smelling bacon for the next 30 minutes or so, chances are I'll have no appetite until much later this evening, probably another 6 or 10 hours. Not mad, just...inconvenienced.

LTSR!I just planted an entire 12' X 10' garden in nothing BUT beets up at my buddy's place. He wanted beets so we planted beets.

Wow, I can't identify with that at all. Bacon has to be one of my ultimate favorite foods. Love the smell of it too. I once read that when Elvis first got rich, one of the first things he did was have a bowl of fried bacon available in his house at all times because he loved it so much. His chef was making it constantly. It's not good for you though.

Hi Humboldt
Although not a vergitarian by any means i no longer eat as much meat as i used to and haven't for the last 10 years or so.
If i sear meat, like a steak in a fry pan on high heat, it takes my breath away and i gasp for air for some time. I have no idea what causes that but i no longer sear my steaks that's for sure.
Now to the Beets. Geez i just absolutely Hate them with a passion.
As a kid growing up during the lean War years we all had Victory Gardens and grew as much as we could.
My Grandmother bless Her soul loved Beets. Yuk!
We all loved mashed potatoes and i'd ask to not be served beets , but of course i got them anyway and the juice would run into my potatoes turning that god aweful beet color and then i couldn't eat the potatoes either.
Well back then you cleaned your plate or else. Many a night i sat in tears eating beet colored cold potatoes and the beets themselves.
Lord how i hate beets.
regards
minir

We have seen their kind before. They're the heirs of all the murderous ideologies of the 20th century. By sacrificing human life to serve their radical visions, by abandoning every value except the will to power, they follow in the path of fascism, Nazism and totalitarianism. And they will follow that path all the way to where it ends in history's unmarked grave of discarded lies.
