I need some help.please,my win2k box froze up,so I had to push the reset button, and now it won't boot past the win2k splash screen and a quick blue and black screen comes up with something about a "memory dump" ,can I recover from this ?or do I need to reformat?

quick help needed asap please?
I woke up this morning, had them Statesboro Blues.
I looked over in the corner, and Grandpa seemed to have them too.

Also, if you boot off the Win2K CD I believe there is a Repair option along with the install option if 2k is already installed (last resort)

Mine does that once in awhile also?? it also says something about the memory dump and something about a "hive" file missing or damanged?? I have to end up hitting the reset button like 4 or 5 times before it finally boots up all the way. If you got it taken care of, let me know too please? Thanks!

to you and Murman,I never was able to get it to boot again,I had to format it,weird, mmmmm! I had backups, but I would still like to learn more about "memory dumps" ,what causes them and how to recoverr,if possible. :) I have a wrenching feeling it was the SG tcp optimizer, thats the only new thing I had done, and I don't think win2k likes it's registry messed with.all I was doing when it crashed was opening a second IE instance. :) oh well..
(I have win2k pro)
