Loud Hard Drive

Post by BoOmEr2120 »

Hello,

I have a hard drive on my notebook computer which is very loud. The noise of this drive is a lot more than the noise that any other notebook drive makes that I've used. It is not loud enough for me to not use it, but it is an annoying loud. Does this mean that a drive failure is imminent. It has been making this loud noise since I got the computer, and I haven't noticed any signs of failure. The drive is a Fujitsu 6 GB drive.

LOL How bout some vaseline :D

Are you sure it's the drive? Could it be the fan?
If it's the drive and it's been like that since you got it, I wouldn't worry about it, but if it's the fan you might want to replace it before it seizes.

I'm pretty sure it's the hard drive because the fan doesn't run unless the computer gets too warm.

I believe I should be OK since this has been happening since I got this computer.

Thanks for all of the great help that I have received.
