haven't over clocked her yet

i have a strange problem on bootup though

after post and IDE detection and before OS startup, my computer freezes for a minute....its so wierd, if i press delete right after POST to get into the bios, it goes in but again it pauses for a minute, even the clock pause (but doesn't lose time)......anybody incounter this problem with this board?

with a 400mhz front side bus i can live with the problem for now
compared with your inferior 266 FSB

Lower latency and DDR makes up for teh 266FSB.

you cannot compare the different methods of obtaining the FSB

Intel uses the GTL Bus which uses 4 100Mhz busses to equal 400Mhz, it's a 'quad pumped' bus

AMD uses the EV6 bus which is a single 133Mhz FSB DDR'd to give it 266Mhz

The methods are different

as to which one is a better method, i'll leave that up to you research and find out to draw your own conclusions

As for your main problem per this topic, I do not have any suggestions, I'm stumped as well.

To each his own. If Intel or AMD is hated so be it. I don't think Us hating them will make a bit of difference to their sales. This is freedom of speech so Hate away. :rotfl:

Set your fsb with the dip switches and I bet that your problem will be solved.

What bios version are you running?

I really hate to say this but all my problems that I have been having this week...and I never had problems before...were the result of the SB Audigy.

Creative does mention that they do not have drivers which are compatible with the new Intel chipsets for the new CPU's.

I would seriously look into that first cause my system was crushed and brought to it's knees by that damn thing.

That isnt the issue. His board has the 1.004 bios which doesn't properly recognize Northwood core cpus. He needs to set his dip switchs for stock speed based on the values given in the P4T (not E) manual and then boot up his system and update his bios to 1.005 bios.

The kicker is that if you want to overclock with this board you have to use the dip switches regardless and therefore cannot set the voltages higher.

I understand...just wanted to let him know that my symptoms were quite similar and that Creative still hasn't released the drivers that work with the new chipsets..in other words, he may be compounding the problem.

Nightowl...just beware of any problems after this. :D
