Watching a .dem file?

Post by Humboldt »

Snake sent me a demo clip of a new map, ending with a .dem extension.

Anyone know how to watch this? Should I just open it with Windows Media Player?

Thanks

It seems that maybe you could view it while your game is loaded by using command lines...

EDIT-I forgot the link!!

I was looking at that too, I assume it would have to be within the same game directory as the game that captured the demo in the first place though.

Snake e'ed it to me, so I'm not sure which HalfLife folder it should go into.

Thanks for the tip CoolJ, I'll look for that too.

What game was it recorded in? TFC, HL, CS? If it was recorded in HalfLife, put in valve dir, and go to console in a game or w/e and type: playdemo demoname.dem

Hey HalfLifer, thanks for the tip.

I'll have to ask Snake, I know it's either straight HLDM or CS.

Ever tried any mapping?

Got to watch those voids :)

Heh, I know exactly what you're talking about though.

One of my first maps has a spawn point that's a good 20 feet off the ground :D When you spawn in, you plummet and smack, losing 10 health right off the bat.

Funny as hell to watch.

Humboldt i sent "geekplay" with the map so you could play it, it does not matter where the demo is to play it with geekplay. i put my demos in a folder on my desktop.

sometimes it takes a few tries to get geekplay to work right , it did for me anyways.
