Yeah, I don't like the new Morpheus either, but i'm not getting slow downloads. When I finally can download off someone I go as fast as I can(50k/s).

Is there anyway to search for certain media anymore? Like before you could search for video files only. I don't see anything like that now.

Hey guys, I'm using a neutered Kazaa and WinMX.
Kazaa blows away both WinMX and Morpheus, you just need to neuter it of it's spyware by following the directions from the link below.

http://www.project-insomnia.com/grokster.html

You can be happy campers again. Well, at least until the RIAA shuts it down!

Yessiree SilverDakota. I think you already have Ad Aware installed. If so, just download Kazaa and during setup, DO NOT LET IT RUN, uncheck all the other nasty garbage, then run Ad Aware to get rid of the original Cydoor .dll, then unzip the CEXX org dummy .dll to C:\ Windows\System.

Then fire it up and set your preferences just as you would have in the earlier Morpheus. ;)

You'll want to get rid of any remaining reg keys from Morpheus. I think you have a program or to already that will do that. If not, they have a morpheus reg clean to run.

New Morpheus...lame. My connection isn't bad, when it connects. I have hardly been able to download any music at all.

Blebs: Cool! Thanks for the info. I went to that site and have gathered the files I needed. And yes, I had AdAware, etc too to get things cleaned up. I'll have to mess with this tomorrow though as it's getting late.

BTW: There's a Morpheus Migration tool for Kazaa to import Morpheus' settings, so evidently wuite a few people are using Kazaa now. I heard their traffic jumped a bunch when all this came down. Not unexpected.

I didn't use the migration tool. I totalled Morpheus and then loaded up Kazaa. The traffic on Kazaa isn't as good as Morpheus 1.33 had, but I think that may change. So far, I've had no troubles getting anything. Some real fast, Some not so fast. I want to see what the traffic is like this weekend. ;)

It's built on the Fast track P2P database, but to be honest, I forget. :(

The reason there's not as much traffic is because the loss of Morpheus. Morpheus, Kazaa and Grokster all used the same network, with Morpheus being one of the big players. Now that Morpheus has been evicted and sent over to the totally lame Gnutella network, it'll take awhile before people make it back. Mainly because it's not easy to make it back for some people due to the complexity of neutering the spyware of Kazaa and Grokster to get gack on the FastTrack network. Some people might not ever make it back due to their paranoia over the Kazaa/Grokster spyware.

I'll be back on tonight after I neuter Kazaa and Grokster! :) And, I will also not use the migration tool. I'm also going to totally nuke Morpheus and load clean.

Naww man! Go for the post count! :D j/k And you're welcome!

I'm not a huge music downloader, but I want something available and WinMX, though it has a pretty nice interface, just isn't very reliable. I like the pictures I have seen of the Kazaa and Grokster interfaces, adn if I didn't have to go to work here soon, I'd be setting them up now. That's definitely going to be my first project this evening though when I get home.

First off: Partial: I'm pretty sure you'll have to re-neuter Gorkster if you install 1.5.

As for SuperNodes, this is from Grokster Help:

SuperNodes

Q: What is a SuperNode?

A: Any Grokster client can become a SuperNode if they have a modern computer and are accessing the Internet with a broadband connection. Being a SuperNode does not affect your performance noticeably. Other Grokster users in your neighbourhood, using the same Internet Service provider or located in the same region as you, will automatically upload a small list of files they are sharing to you. When they are searching they will send the search request to you as a SuperNode. The actual download will be directly from the computer that is sharing the file and the person who is downloading the file, peer-to-peer. «Index

Q: What if I do not want to have my computer function as a SuperNode?

A: Go to Tools, then Options, choose the Advanced tab and check the Do not function as a SuperNode box. «Index

Q: Is it harmful for my computer to be a SuperNode?

A: No. Being a SuperNode helps the Grokster community. Other Grokster members connect to you, and your computer does the searching for them. Your SuperNode communicates with other SuperNodes worldwide to help other members search the network. The amount of CPU resources that can be used by a SuperNode is limited to 10% of the total CPU power available - you will in general not even notice if your computer is functioning as a SuperNode.

Yes, you will. It will install Cydoor all over again. It's not that big of a deal and is easy enough to do. :)
