how does elsa galadic going bankrupt wipe out Nvidia's euro market?? Isn't it possible to get other versions of nvidia chips over there? Won't they still sell as many chips in the long run???
I saw a blurb on TV awhile back..like during early Feb, or so and it was detailing the best growth companies of the year in the tech industry. Guess who was at the top of that list....Nvidia.
They had grown three hundred and eighty-something percent in the course of that one year. This was stock value growth I believe

I disagree about Microsoft coming down.Originally posted by Brent
any company can fall, just by making one bad decision
that's what happend to 3dfx, they had increadible engineers but made bad business decisions
bad deceisions can bring down even the mighty microsoft or apple for instance
They are just way too big, have money pouring out of their eears, that they dont know what do with it. The only way MS is going down is if the government screws with them.
They have way too much of a monopoly.
As far as any other company I agree with you.

How ? Name one bad move that will take them down.
They have made a lot of bad moves recently...I mean look at all the heat they get from their security breaches on their OS and IE...it is ridiculous that they are coming out with a patch every other day or week.
Even if they lost millions...they wont go bankrupt.
I am not saying it can never happen, but chances for MS is so slim..I think I have better chance of winning the lottery.
Personally, I think Bill Gates, and Bill Clinton both signed pacts with the devil, to get away with what they have done.
OK I am going off topic..sorry..as you can see I am not a big MS lover.

That's where their roots were from, the higher end workstation market. They started getting into the gaming market, and perhaps were not able to do both. The gaming market has too many out there now, like Synch said, cannot compete with Taiwan. Just look at how many nVidia solutions there are out there, and the cheapest junk cards perform 99 44/100 % as close as a top notch card.Originally posted by Macho-Module
Elsa wasn't even making gaming cards anymore. They were totally focused on the CAD/Graphics community with the Quadro series of cards.
That might be why they fell down so hard.
However in the high end workstation market, not as many makers in that small market, which 3DLabs is pretty much dominating now. The entry level workstation cards can now run standard nVidia/ATI cards, since everyday cards are now powerful enough to run basic CAD workstations. Just a couple of years ago, there was a need/market for entry level workstation cards, which Elsa was strong in, because basic every day vid cards didn't have the nut to drive basic CAD work. Elsa did a lot in the entry level workstation vid card market. But now entry level workstations usually come with OEM nVidia quaddro cards, or any nicer vid card from nVidia or ATI, and higher end workstations have those 5,000.00 3Dlabs cards. So Elsa's market...where did it go?

Pulled this up again, since we were just talking about this, and I remember mentioning the higher end workstation graphics market (where Elsa came from), and tossing in 3DLabs as the top dog there.
This morning, reading my usual morning stops, came across this, where Creative Labs is gonna dive back into the graphics market after purchasing 3DLabs:
