Do you have or ever had a motorbike?

Post by RoundEye »

Lets see them or hear about them...............

Old Bike. 1990 Kawasaki ZX-11. Some engine mods, custom paint, I did all the prep work and sprayed the black and a friend did the Burgundy. I stripped the bike down to the frame and painted every part, all the bolts, plastic, everything.

Image

Here's my Ducati, not many mods, removed the pollution stuff, added Carbon Fiber exhaust, and tweaked the carbs a bit.

I love this bike, whenever you post the pic of it, it just seems so cool!

i have had a few. first bike was a Suzuki GS425. that was about 13 years ago. piece of crap BTW, but a good first bike.

had a Yamaha XS850 Triple..... also had a Honda VF1100S.

no bike right now. i may wait until i can afford (or can at least justify the expenditure. i live in an apartment, and have no garage to park it in) for something nice. a nice springer softail would be my first choice.

I have a 1984 Yamaha Virago. Nothing fancy. It has been mainly sitting under a tarp the last couple of years. I don't ride much anymore. I go my 1st bike and had my first accident when I was 5. My parents had a toss up between a bike or a 3 wheeler. Well 3 wheelers had just came out and they weren't sure they were safe enough for a kid, so I got a bike. Logical huh? It was a Suzuki 50 dirtbike. It had a top speed of 40 mph. Pretty fast for a 5 year old.

8 y/o....yamaha 80 cc crap bike, was to learn.

10y/o got a Honda Trail 70, loved it, would climb a tree

15 y/o got a Honda Reflex(1986 model), still have it, runs like a top too. 200cc, 6 forward speeds, if ya really wanna call 1st a gear, its so low, you might as well be goin in reverse. It will, as well, climb a tree. Took me months before I could "track stand". Now I can climb all over the place with that beastie.

26 y/o Rode a race tuned Honda 919(929?) RR, GEEZUS CHRIST ALMIGHTY ON A POGO STICK. That thing scared me to death, I eased outta the driveway, clicked a few gears off and thought..."hey this is nice..." Stopped at a stop sign, and decided to open it up. DUMB MOVE. At 8k rpm, something woke up under me, and wanted to go real fast. Remined me of the time I got friskey with a 500cc Husky 2 stroker race bike(motocross bike). Its like someone poked it, it just took off....almost left me behind...lol. I pulled in the clutch and kept the RPMs under 4k the rest of the way back to the house. Incredible.

1994 Heritage Softail Classic. Added the engine guard and highway pegs, pouches, removed the faring and saddle bags, and added some chromey go fasters. Would like to get a road king someday.

Hi RoundEye

Haven't had a Bike in years, but had a lot of them

500 Matchless(Coverted from a Racer, Dual Carbs)

650 AJS ( The Matchless and AJS were almost identical.)

Triumph, Royal Enfield, Norton,

Harley Sportster & 1978 Harley Dresser ( Last of my big ones.)

Then bought a Suzuki 250 for squirreling & gave it to my Sons.

I have forgotten a couple. Back then a new AJS 650 was i think $ 695.00 & a Bonneville was $995.00 i think.

That was in 1956 when i was making a fast $ 35 bucks a week for 5 1/2 days, i think gas was 20 cents a Gal. or something like that.

In 1961 we took off for the races in Laconia NH. and i had the grand sum of $ 100 bucks in my pocket, slept in tents and drank beer till it came out our ears. Good times those.

Every year i still manage to borrow a bike from someone for a ride.

Ran into my Old Pal who owned the Dealership in Peterboro for years and from whom i bought just about all my Bikes. He sold it to His Son, Who didn't like the Selling end of things ( Mechanic) and He sold it to someone else. Just about broke my Pals heart.

There wasn't many of us into Bikes back then and we were a close bunch who looked out for one another.

Back then the bikes didn't even have an ignition key.

Once a Biker, always a Biker it seems.

1983 Suzuki 450
1985 Honda Nighthawk 650
1987 Honda Interceptor 1100

I put my ZX as my first bike, but I forgot about my Kawasaki 650, about a 80 model I believe.

Started riding around nine I guess, on my dad's Honda 90. Not one of those trail 90's either. My feet didn't even touch the ground :D Got it to about 50mph, man I thought I was the sh!t. :rotfl:

1984 Honda Magna 750cc, for back and forth to work. I had it for a year before some A$$ tried to kill me at an intersection......sold it the next week and never went back!

Let me tell you, I know nothing about bikes, but if I could get only one, it would be this one, in black.

Excelsior-Henderson Super X. I love the look of this bike, always have. I have no idea if it's fast or reliable, I'd deal with that later, but this one just speaks to me.....and it's not just saying, "Break out your wallet." It's like a woman you see and you just KNOW she's "the one." This gives me the same feeling.

BTW, Noevo, very nice ride there, you keep it in good shape. I love Harleys. :)

MadDoctor, for some reason I can't see you on the bike you posted, isn't that a sport bike? I pictured you in a minivan. :D

Here is my Kawasaki ZX-9R at Talladega GranPrix Raceway a few years ago. This is the small track, not the Motor Speedway you NASCAR guys know. We used to rent the track for the weekend and all go racing.
This is the best pic of this bike I could find. I have no pics of my Honda RC31 Hawk GT. I may have some pics of my older Suzuki GS750-ES. All bikes have been sold though..in order to go to school :( Comcast was not working when I posted this pic. I hope it shows.

There must be something wrong with me.....

Dirt....a Yamaha 125 to a 250 to a 500 and back to a 250....screw them big bikes for dirt......actually some of these 125 models are way better and faster than that old 250....

Road....a honda 90 trail...with road gears to a HD in 75. I only had it for a year when I sold it. I've not owned a bike since.

I love American muscle but here's where there must be something wrong with me.........this would be my choice...

I love the looks of this bike...

Downhill,
For not riding in a bunch of years, you've made one hell of a choice.

I've put lots of miles on the Valkyries. That is a very smooth engine. The bike hides it weight, so tight, slow turns are very easy. The engine is based on the Goldwing engine. They put six carbs (instead of two), hotter cams, solid lifters and stuck it in the Valkyrie. I had one customer trade in his Goldwing with over 225,000 miles on it! We checked the compression and oil pressure, and it was still within spec. That is probably the most reliable engine/drivetrain combo ever put in any motorcycle.

You get something like that, I guarantee you will have many years of troublefree riding bliss. The only downside is the back tire is over $200.

This is the last new Honda bike I got to ride, before I started working on computers. The VTX 1800. For a V-Twin this thing has an ungodly amount of power. If I remember right it's the biggest production engine ever put on a motorcycle(other then some smaller custom manufactures)

Downhill, l like the looks of the bike too, but when I hear one going down the other road, it sounded like a small car engine, and frankly, I didn't care for it. But I agree that it really looks cool. :)

Man, that's sharp! Too bad it's Japanese, though not in refrence to it's mechanicals.....

I notice that nobody commented on the Super X I posted in the first page. From the reviews I read about it, it's either one of those bikes you love or you hate, with very little middle ground. I take it that I'm the only one that loves the look of it. Some guys are put off by the front springs, I don't mind, and from what I've read it's an extremely effective in controlling dive during hard braking. They said that the whole bike just squats about an inch, or something like that.

Like I said before, I don't know about bikes, I just know what I like and what I would want out of one. I want the FEEL of the engine under me (but no solid mounts!), I like a little edge with the look and feel. :)

I agree with you, those are awesome looking bikes.

Don't feel bad about the maturity thing, I had the Ghost-SS up to 135 the other night. :D
