Hello, please take this post lightly becasue i am extremely upset.
It all started about a month ago... I couldnt play any type of online game for more than 10 minutes... I get kicked out of the server, even downloading large files, i cant download a file for more than 10 minutes without me getting disconnected.
So one day I call comcast... I talk to level 1 techs and then level 2 technician. They dont know whats going on they just said to buy a new network card. So i did... it didnt work. So i call back and it takes about 2 hours. so they ruled out it being my computer becuasue it is a new computer with pleanty of memory. So they send someone over. a tech comes to my house and just resets my cable modem (i could have done it myself!).... so he leaves quickly and still it doesnt fix the problem.
I call level 2 tech support again... (by this time i tried upgrading my operating system too). So they send another guy over... He tries playing some of my games and is dumbfounded when he doesnt kno what the heck is goiing on (he discovers packet loss about every 10 mins or so). So he speeks to his higher-up and that guy doesnt know whats going on either... he changes my splitters and he changes some stuff outside with the cable line.
they finally say "just wait a month until comcast is completely transitioned" (Although the tech on the phone said my city is completely transitioned). I dont think this is the problem because it was happening well before the transition from @home to comcast.
Ok... they are not going to give me credit for my account until they solve the problem (whenever that may be). So Im just wating here. Someone who lives not to far from me also has comcast and his works fine.... I dont know what to do... The only reason I am staying here is because it is the cheapest high speed option for me (38$ a month)... IS there any suggetions? should I talk to a supervisor? what the heck do i do? Why have high speed if its not steady? HELP
thanks for reading,
JD

So far they haven't identified the problem. It could be anything so don't rule out the computer. Could be the modem?...fittings?.....lines?.....even the "new"system they are migrating to. If the have access to a QAM meter they can check the signal quality, they should also check for return ingress from your "node". At this point in time, everything needs to be checked out. I would keep from changing anything on the computer, you could introduce another problem that would mask the "real"problem.
