Low Fat Diets. *edited*

Post by EvilAngel »

Without links or anything do any of you guys have some low fat diet meals to share? I have been searching the net looking for some and found alot but most are things I would never eat or have to buy all kinds of crap just to get started.

TIA.

oh and BTW they need to be LOW in protien my diet cannot exceed 100g protien and 3000 calories a day. salt has to be at a minimum and or course fat.

Again thanks in advance

Low Fag Diets
lol

Dont do the no starch diet.. you body needs sugar.

Never stoop as low as those "lost 30 lbs in 30 days" diets. It takes about 30 days to figure out you are chaning your eating habits. Those diets are very dangerious

Whatever you do dont take those loose weight pills. They kill you! My dad has a few cases over this one pill that caused liver and/or kidney failure ( not sure which one) and some people ended up dieing from it. Since then, the product has been pulled off the market but it just shows you how dangerous those things are.

Loosing weight isn't my objective.. preserving my liver is...

Yah those diets are a full on scam, maybe even work but once you change your routine your back on the weight wagon! :)

Use a grill to cook your meats, that way the fat drips off. Beef, fish and chicken, no pork or duck etc.. Fish is prolly the best to eat. Meats that have high density lipoprotein are the way to go, they actually help your liver get rid of the low density lipoprotein. I gotta dig one of my old books out to get this right.

If protein is to be restricted, you gotta eat less meat & fish. Try some meals with a lot of veggies/carbohydrate sources, like noodles with tomato sauce, or fill vegetables with some ground beef or something. Like sweet pepers, cucumbers, eggplant, etc. carve the middle out, save the stuff (except that from sweet peppers), mix that stuff with ground beef, salt (a little) and pepper, fill the veggies with the mix, make some sort of tomato sauce (don't make it too thick), and then bake it in the oven, serve with rice & salad. *LOL* I know, that is very imprecise and all, but if you experiment a bit with it, you'll get a VERY tasty and healthy meal. If you want me to I can check if I find a real recipe for this stuff...

Hi Ronald, welcome home. From what I gather EA wants to enjoy meats with the least fat possible. Ya can always get your protein from beans too EA. That'd prolly be the healthiest way, but giving up meat entirely can be a bit of a bummer. Still digin for that book.

Raw or cooked egg whites are a good low fat low cholesterol way to get your desired level of protein. They have eggs now, that are cholesterol free.
Egg whites are also almost complete in the amino acids needed for your body to make proteins for things such as your muscles. Amino acids are the bodies building blocks.
You can also buy egg whites packaged the same way as milk is. The yolk is the bad part. the white is the food for the baby chicken as it grows in the egg. The carton of egg whites will have nutrition stats too, so you can easily check on your protein intake

Do ya like squid? If you do: buy a box of whole cleaned squid, lay the portion you want to eat out on a cutting board, cut slits in the sides of the bodies (increases airation and keeps it from curling up while cooking), mix olive oil with garlic, basil, oregano, a lil' salt and pepper, squeeze of lemon, some dried chillies as a marinate for the squid. let it sit in the fridge for 30min to 3 days (not really important). Little olive oil should be used, just enough to promote the spreading of the ingredients. No flare ups.

This serves as the bed your squid will be placed on:

While your squid is in the fridge, take a good quantity (say 12) plum tomatoes (depending if your daughter will eat squid lol) and cut them in half (long ways), squeeze the seeds out or use a spoon (don't if ya don't care cause the gel that the seeds sit in is high in pectin (antioxidant) it'll just be more watery), and dice the tomatoes into little squares, take one large onion and dice that into little sqaures too. Add some garlic, oregano, basil, salt (or not), pepper, some parsley (for a little color) add a little bit of olive or vegtable oil as well.

Now the synphony begins :) .

Get your grill really hot (let it go for about 5-10min or so on high heat) and make sure it's clean (brush), turn the heat to medium a minute or so before placing the squid on. (note: if your squid has got solidified oil on it, from refrigeration you used to much oil to marinate), Cook the squid for 5min or so, ALWAYS keeping at least one eye on it (you may want to cook it longer), get some nice grill marks on it. If your unsure keep tasting it as it cooks.

Note: overcooked squid tastes like sh!t :) . Keep in mind it's still cooking even after you take it off the grill.

In the meantime your tomato mix should have been cooking in a fry pan (just enough to heat it up and get the flavours to blend), give it a couple sqirts of lemon. If it's really watery, use a coarse straining spoon to put it on the plate

Place the tomato mix on the plate as a bed for the squid, put the squid on top and presto! You can use reddichio lettuce (as a dress for the tomato mix to sit in, it holds a round shape). Throw a wedge of lemon on the side if ya like.

Note: Dried herbs work very nicely, but if you ever want to get fancy, use finely chopped fresh ones.

If you don't want to spend the time dicing the mix, just buy some bruschetta mix cause that's what it is ;) .

I didn't put specifics of quantity with the spices cause it's probably easier to just go by your taste. I forget I was a cook for 5 years :) .

May take a few tries before you get it the way you like it. It's delicious btw. I put a lot more dried chillies.

Stats on squid per 100g: 92cal, protein 16g, fat 1.4g, cholesterol 233mg, soduim 44mg, potassium 246mg.

Oh btw, the word garlic I mentioned, is minced garlic not whole garlic :) .

Found one of the books, says High-density lipoprotein is high in protein and lower in fat. Due to protein being denser than fat. It's easier for your liver to break down. Can't find the book That had the "gold" in it though. I think I lent it out :( . You might wanna do a little research on HDL.

Siteosterol thank you that's a mouthful man.. :) Squid? hmmm I'll give it a shot..

This is getting harder the more I read what I need to do.. I'm kinda getting confused

I need to have
  • Low Fat
  • low protien
  • avoid excess Vitamin-A
  • avoid excess Vitamin-D

I mean I don't really have to stay on this diet to stricly but I need to preserve what I have (liver) The more I read about my condition the more hope I get by reading the methods that can prevent Cirrocis and other crap associated with Hep. I can even start the healing of my liver, haveing a proper diet plan.

Again thanks for the help guys..

Wow Evil, looks to me the hard part is limiting the protien.

No more 6 dollar burgers for you, young man. LOL

Your right though, the liver can start to heal if you follow a proper diet.

Low fat in protien is chicken. If your serious enough, boiled. Probably not everyday but it's a great source without a lot of fat.

Tuna is another choice. I would use it in salads a lot when I was lifting. Give them carbs a little taste without dressing.

Not drinking is going to be the best thing you've done for that liver. I hope I speak for all of us at SpeedGuide when I say that we are proud of how far you've come since you've been a member. :)
For those that don't know, Evil gave up cigarettes and beer at the same time. One or the other is hard enough. Way to go Evil. :)

steam the chicken whole.. not frozen.. but fresh chicken..

then u can get some ginger, green onion.. chop em up.. mix em togtehr.. and just put some hot oil on it.. and dip the chicken in it.. tastes great...

or steam the chicken... and take the oil that is left from the chicken and steam rice with it... tasty low fat.. and fast... ohh man.. I'm hungry...

Get some cardio exercise too. Enables your body to be more capable of regenerating itself. Your body becomes more efficient at what it does. Blood is the pathway to nutrients.

Evilangel you may laugh but Oprah's cook book is actually very good. This is when she was still on her dieting kick and put together a book with her personal cook.

I have a bid on a copy at ebay already. I have a good chance of winning, I will let you know if we got it in about 45 minutes. If I win, I will send it right out to you.
