need help

i just got cable a week ago. my download and upload speed is great. but as soon as i play quake my ping is like 300-600. why is it so high and how can i make it go down. it sucks. why even have cable if i cant get a desent ping?!

is this on EVERY server you go in?

Try gamespy.com. Download it, and it will ping EVERY Quake server for you.

You will be able to find a good one

i have gamespy. but my ping is still very high
