Let's just get this over with. This is getting out of hand on the forum.

We all come here because we are interested in everything and anything computer related. We come to SG because we have friends here or we are trying to make friends here that share our interest.

The things that have been going on around here are ridicules. I have to empty my PM at least twice a day, due to the warnings, I'm sorry's, and Reported post that I get.

I have members acting up the minute they realize a MOD is not on the board. What kind of maturity is this? what are you trying to tell us, that if we are not here to watch you like a child, that you won't behave and follow the rules that you agreed to when you signed up?

I have others who apparently do not know that spamming is not allowed. They wait until 2 to 5am to post in every thread that they can, to get up post count. Why don't you do this during normal hours? maybe because you KNOW that you can be banned for this, is that what you want? Let me enlighten you post count MEANS NOTHING. Your reputation on this board will be remembered longer then your post count.

At last but not least our quick tempered Flamers. As people from all differant walks of life join this forum, we are going to have disagreements and differant points of view. listening to eachother and expressing our own views can be done without insults or name calling. We have "Report to moderator" buttons on every post, why not click that rather then stooping to the other persons level. We also have the ignore feature, that can help with this issue. However if you choose to stoop then prepare to take the same consequences as the person who started it. Be the bigger man and walk away.

Oh and I almost forgot, The Cheering section. You know who you are. You are the ones who feed the arguments with a well placed little smiley face or a joke about the argumnent.

It doesn't have to be this way, It's up to each of you...

Errrr....ummm..guys, call this brown nosing or whatever you like. It bothers me not in the least.

Lets give mouse a little respect here.

First off she's been a member for quite some time. Secondly she's more than fair.

What I'm seeing above is really uncalled for. I figure maybe you think it's funny but think of it this way, she's trying to get the forum back to respectability. Give her a break.

Lets use her as an example and not as the butt of what you percieve as humor.

well said mouse. Each week I notice major fight going on here which only creates enemies and discomfort . I do not post much lately but I read most posts and this forum was completely diferent few months ago from what it is now.

A forum is a means of allowing communication amongst people. It is written communication that has been typed and uploaded to a web server in an encoded digital format. Nevertheless, it is communication just like speech or the pen.

The purpose of two way comunication here at SG is the exchange of ideas as they relate to the subjects in each forum. There are many here who have NO clue what communication really is. They think that ANY words blabbed or typed is communication.

All communication has an intention behind it that acts like a carrier wave. It pushes the ideas forward through space & time toward a recipient. The intention is quite visible to one who can perceive. But some here are clouded in the head and do not look and perceive. They do not OBSERVE. These are the troublemakers and misfits. These are the spammers and flamers. These are the "kiddies" who have no summer job!

I truly believe that some folks here cannot differentiate between a forum and AIM or ICQ. To them all communication is the same with the same significances. To these folks I say "stop yappin and do more reading!"

Its not about disobeying her rules or phils rules, or any rules at all, its all about having 100% freedom of speech to say whatever you feel like to say without being shot down for it.. and this board doesn't not obey the Constitution of The United States Of America, and yes even a privately owned web site that has its location based in the US falls under US law. If you want to get the lawyers involved, Lets go baby I’m ready for it

I know I can have a hot temper sometimes, and go on a sarcastic post barrage, but I never outright call someone cuss words or make childish attacks like "Your momma so fat she..."

The worst I will do is call someone ignorant, a hypocrit, or idiotic. Idiotic being the apex of my flame terminology.

I just post logic, relative to me, but still pretty damn clear and concise.

I try not to let things get childish, but sometimes a debate turns into a thread battle of points and ideas, and I think some consider that flaming.

I however, do not.

As you should be able to.

When someone covertly accuses you of being a child molester and rest-stop rapist you have every right to fight said person tooth and nail.

And that is why I got so enraged, because you did not deserve that.

Such a generalisation is not only terribly ignorant, but makes the person saying it look the fool.

Perhaps the flamers aren't as much to blame as those that throw gasoline on the wood pile, if you get my meaning.

I honestly dont think you did anything wrong Mikemean. If someone said similar things to me, I would have reacted the same way.

Personally I think its rediculous for someone to be banned for defending themselves. Its like a kid getting punched in the nose by a bully. He fights back and they both get suspended. Where is the logic behind that?

These arogant newbys come marching in and insult members who have made a great contribution to this sight and the playing field is still level?

So what your saying is that if you go into any bar, resturant, church, grocery store, ect ect..and start thrashing people, the establishment has no right to kick you out? How about your own home? Sorry.......but I'd have to respecfully disagree with you there.

Sure you have a right to visit what you want, but not to do what you want. Two different things. I think it would be a waste of money to pursue it also.

This is as much a private establishment as any business.

Different topic somewhat now. There were two post's just below mouse's first post above. Somehow they were deleted making mine look perhaps as a slam against what mouse posted. In reality, the two posts were somewhat disrespectful to her, so the subject of my post above.

I'll say this about mouse. She's spent countless hours helping some of the young folk here with personal problems. I salute her. She's a huge asset to SpeedGuide and another reason I stick around.

downhill is exactely right, no matter what status any of us have, no matter how many posts any of us have, and no matter how long any of us have been here, we are all guests here, you wouldn't go into the local grocery store that you frequently buy groceries at and tell someone from out of town to **** off just because they are new to the store and dont know what aisle the salad dressing is on, and if by chance you thought that you were high an mighty enough to do so I'm quite sure that the manager can and will ask you to leave and not come back, this same thing happenned last summer when i worked at a Food City, two guys met and started calling each other names in the middle of the store, the manager asked them to leave and not come back

oh and prey, you know exactely what i'm talking about, so do many more who go around taking offense to everything posted by anyone who has less that 100 or so posts

I know you don't need or want an appology mouse, but I'm sorry if I contributed to the escalation of yesterdays incident, but rude people just make me so angry! I should have handled it with a report to a mod. I just had to speak up though. I love SG and almost all under it's roof. The mods here do a great job. In rare occasions I'll flame someone, but I'll make every effort not to do so anymore, out of respect.

That's exactly the kind of crap we're talking about.

And about how this board isn't obeying the constitution...this is, first and foremost, a techinally-based forum.

It is not originally intended to be a forum where you go and talk about anything and everything (ie. General forum). With all the flaming and childish crap going on (from Senior members and newbies alike), it's getting to the point where u can't even recommend this site to other people anymore that either need help, or have help to give. This is why a lot of people have left.

I personally think we need to be stricter on these people. If they are not mature enough to handle the rules on their own, then they will need some "encouragement". No favourites.

Like maybe a week temporary ban, like a probation, and if they come back, they will be on a probationary term. If they get out of line again, they're gone.

All this childish spam is simply pathetic. Who cares about how many posts you have...it's what u do with those posts that matters.

turn off the post count if your having such a big problem with spammers, i see speedcorp did it, their not having any problems with em. An make that advance member thing when youve been here a certain amount of TIME, rather than POSTs. Well, hope ya guys take this into considiration.

I don't think it would hurt to try this out for a month or two. Hiding the post count could possibly be a great deterrent, something to consider.

Seniority seems like a positive factor in a member's status, it's quite obvious isn't it?
