Cable connection needs tweakin'

Post by Dragonwc99 »

I have Win2kpro , @home cable, i need it to be tweaked plz. I have 384 SDRAM , 450 Mhz , all settings are default ....plz help me tweak my connection, here it is...

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 17520
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 17520
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 700.8 kbps (87.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 280.32 kbps (35.04 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 117 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000
The only way to stop software piracy, is to make games SO cheap, it's not even worth burning. That might be a while..hehe

Click on help page below in signature and follow directions exactly, please leave your OS and system specs if you have not done so.Also if you have Cablenuts adjuster installed I need to know that. On 2nd page of help page at bottom are some Tips and how to do speed test. Thank you and good luck. :)

Bring up Cablenuts adjuster inside Cablenut on desktop the numbers below go in 3 places in W2k and XP, they are: DefaultReceiveWindow, TcpWindowSize, GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize, take out number that is in there and put in one of these, 1 at a time, try: 64240, 420480, 438000 or 417560

At bottom click save to registry, and REBOOT or it will not work. On help page below in signature, 2nd page, at bottom are Tips and How to do Speed test,
Good luck :) :)

I'm running Win98, Celeron 566, 256 SDRAM, and @home. I first ran the 98ME patch and then tweaked the RWIN to 513920. The proxy drops the RWIN back to 49152 (??) when the browser is first started, but if you go to the LAN settings in IE and then uncheck everything it will start using the RWIN of 513920 without restarting IE and it flies from there. Here's my connection stats as of now......

Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0b; Windows 98; MSOCD; AtHome020)

TCP options string = 020405b40103030301010402

On 2nd page of help page below it tells you what to type in run box to stop proxy from starting everytime you reboot, then make sure nothing is checked anywhere in that box, no auto detect :)
