Bell vs Rogers

Post by NuclearHeadache »

This will only apply to certain people......Which do you think is better.....Rogers cable or Bell sympatico? If you know your usual download rate please list it. I have Bell sympatico high speed and download at 30 kbs....usually. This will mainly apply to people who live in the Toronto, Canada area.

PS: If you know of any other high speed providers in this area please list them and any opinions about them that you have......Thanks!!!! :)

Bell told you this? Do you think they will inform every Bell Sympatico customer?

We have Bell and I just ran the test they have out the other day and ours was 985kbps.

I ran the test a couple of times and our lowest was 789. Hope this helps.

There is a tweak at there sight that is suppose to help, they told me if ours was over 500 the tweak probably wouldn't help. :)

I've had both, and both have their pros and cons. Sympatico is very consistant, but if you're far away from the central office, your ping times will suck bad, i was pinging around 100ms to my default gateway with HSE, I live in Scarborough, the central office is downtown. I knew some1 who lived downtown with HSE, he pinged max 50ping to quake2.idirect.com, while i was gettin around 100 to the same server.

The good thing is that HSE allows multiple IPs for free, so you can hook up the modem to a hub / switch and get a few comps on @ the same time without having to use a router or NAT software.

Cable is totally dependant on how many ppl are on, and if your area is upgraded. My area has been fuked for 3 yrs, then a few months ago, they upgraded when Rogers took over, but now its starting to get slow again!

I'd say get both services 'n try it for a month, since both offer 1st month free anyways, then just ditch the one you don't like, since both are area dependant.

Hey, you should call Bell 'n complain about the speed, 30K/sec is below what they guarentee, which is 80K/sec from what I remember.

I ditched HSE long time ago since it'll take em A LONGG time to improve the pings since the only way to do it is by building a new central office closer to me.

I personally think Rogers is way better cuz at least they upgraded my area, even tho now its gettin full again.

Did you have Shaw cable before? If you did then your cable area is probably screwed unless Rogers fixed it. If you had rogers all the way, you should get killer pings with Cable.
