I am now using Windows XP RC2. I forgot to write down my settings that I used for 98SE with the CableNut Adjuster. Here are the settings to the TCP/IP Anyalzer:

Patch is not installed then, downloading and unzipping does not install, read on patch how, and REBOOT

Come back to Speedguide, same thread you were on, in post reply box, with cursor blinking at begining of box go to top, edit, click, select paste, click, this will put information in box. Please X out your IP address, Thank you. Need CPU size and ammount of RAM too

Bring up Cablenuts adjuster inside Cablenut on desktop the numbers below go in 3 places in W2k and XP, they are: DefaultReceiveWindow, TcpWindowSize, GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize, take out number that is in there and put in one of these, 1 at a time, try: 64240, 470120, 481800 or 487640
At bottom click save to registry, and REBOOT or it will not work. On help page below in signature, 2nd page, at bottom are Tips and How to do Speed test,

How do do speed test
1. The best time is early in the morning (3 AM - 6 AM)
2. Make sure defrag has been run so no files are fragmented
3. Delete Temp internet files, not while testing, but after each test. IE browser, click tools, internet options, click on delete files and no this will not harm system, just get rid of temp files
4. Go to a fast server such as http://www.happypuppy.com and click on 10 demos, select a LARGE file to download (not all of it , just most of it, before you click cancel) this will show you how fast you are downloading, it's not going to be quick except except early in morning when not many people on net. I recommend you go to http://www.analogX.com and download Net State live, run this while downloading as it will give you avg of your download speed, really all you need on Net Stat is incoming data, incoming totals and Local machine, right click on Net Stat anywhere, stactics and check these 3 items, the rest need not be checked unless you want them, all you care about is average. Another fast download site is ftp.lucasarts.com
Put system defrag in scheduled tasks to run everyday.
5. Probably the most important, nothing can be running during test, no firewalls, no virus stuff, no ICQ, no AIM (some of you may have to go into BIOS to disable virus scanner, nothing running except Net Stat live
Scheduled tasks will run disk defrag, 98 & SE in Taskbar, WIN ME in control panel
The people who want speed surfing or doing whatever must close all other programs.
(NOTE: at present time http://www.AOL.com seems to be fastest download site, at bottom download aol 6.0)
Or if you wish you may go to http://www.testmyspeed.com and do one of the online tests, these vary to much for me but you may like them.
Tweaks for Windows XP
1.) Turn off System restore and auto updates.
2.) Use SG's System ini tweak set at 7168, type sysedit in run box, Close out of all boxes except System Ini, put it in 386th Enh, thats where it goes
3.) Go to control panel, system, advanced tab at top,performance, settings, click on best performance,then advanced tab at top, background services, then applications
4.) Disable IDE Port Scanning on empty ports and save bootup time.
Go to System Properties by right-clicking on My Computer or via the Control Panel.
Select the Hardware tab.
Look at the Device Manager section and click on the Device Manager button.
This brings up the Device Manager screen.
Open up the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers device branch. Then you will see a list of all the IDE controllers
and channels in your system.
Now, select any one of the IDE channels, right click and choose Properties. Or just double click on the
IDE channel.
Now, select the Advanced Settings tab to get the screen below. As you can see below,
the second port (Device 1) on the Primary IDE Channel does not any IDE device attached to it.
Thus, the Device Type is labeled as Auto Detection. In contrast, the first port has a device attached. That's why the Device Type is grayed out.
To disable IDE device scanning for the second port, click on Auto Detection and you will see
two choices on the list. Select None.
Click OK and reboot. Windows 2000 will now refrain from scanning that IDE port at start up and
should load a little faster
