Win 2K Pro vs. 9x Kernal

Post by the_mp3_refuge »

Ahh as if my pc did have enough probs my compuserve connection is binding IPX/SPX, and lan probs and so on. Well I've got a copy of Win 2K Pro lieing around here so I'm debating wether or not to install it. Would I see an overall performance increase with Win 2K over the Win 98 First Edition kernal? Plus what other advantages does Win 2K have over the 9x's? Peace :2cool:

Install win2k!

Way more stable than the 9x kernal.. and doesn't suck up all your resources!
Fdisk?
It only take me one beer to get drunk...just not sure if it's the ninth or tenth one

Windows 2000 is definitely better if you are looking for stability and speed. The only thing that Windows 98 has over Windows 2000 is compatibility and if your not a gamer then you shouldn't worry about that. If you are a gamer, then I would suggest dual booting between Windows 2000 and Windows 98.

Hey Im considering switching to windows 2000 also. Could someone tell me If I can play HalfLife on windows 2000. Thats basically the only game I play so If Win 2000 is compatible with it..hey I might switch too. What are the main things not compatible with Win 2000? I'll look in the archives for now...Thanks

Windows 2k plays every NEW game I have thrown at it.

You might notice a few FPS drop but if you have a fast system with a good video card you wont notice.

Just ask half lifer ;)
