If I am not mistaken there is a patch to restore your default settings on the same page you gat the patch from. You may have to look around the page for the link to that patch.

Not real familiar with ME but doesnt that have some sort of "fallback" built into the system where you can choose a restore back to a previous state?

yeah windows 98 se has an option were you can go into ms dos mode and type
scanreg /restore
it lets you go back to an earlier date
i just now got adaptec go back so i can go back whenever this happens
i skrewed it up again with the cox@home patch and the prog i used to restore the defaults, says the specified device attached to the system isnt working properly
can someone bail me out again!?!?!?
this is last post from me cuz now i have go back installed i always mess my stuff up
trial and error!!!

Is that last thing you downloaded in the add/remove box, if so remove or delete it, reboot and let us know :)

I forgot but if you get this fixed the first thing you need to do is:
First bring up REGEDIT, type REGEDIT in your run box and hit OK.
Under Registry at the top of the box, click on that, now click on Export Registry File, a box will come up asking where you want to export it to, just put it in your C drive, then name it at the bottem of box, Registry.
Click on save.
Now if you ever get in trouble or want the old regestry back, bring REGEDIT back up and click on Registry and click on import registry file, go to your C drive and click on registry and click open, reboot and your good to go.
Anytime you add a new program, backup again, any program, back it up to the same place as the last one, it will overwrite it. If you do not backup after each new program is instaled you will not have those setting's in regestry if you have to backup for some reason.
You really need to do this 2 times, 1-default registry to leave alone and 2 - the updated registry that you update after adding new programs. It's small won't take up much space, could save you from long night.

Do nothing else in this box as it is the heart of your computer, just what it says above and no more!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK do this, quit playing with the thing until you learn what you are doing, this patch were I am sending you is good, it will take that part of the registry back to default before appling his, after installing his, backup that registry, I am going to watch ballgame be back at about 9:00 CST do this:Fast cable settings for you:
Go to www,Cablenut.com, click on software at top of page :D ownload 4.0 and 4xx to 4.02. 4xx to 4.02 updates 4.0. Cablenuts patch will uninstall prior patches before applying his.
(vtcp386 patch is only for users of 98 and SE).This is located on right hand side of page.
(NOTE Win 95 users need vtcp386 and Winsock for Win 95) these are located on right hand side of page. Install 4.0 then install 4xx to 4.02 .
On desktop will be a Cablenut 4.0 folder, click on this folder, select ccs, then select
Cable, PPPoE/DSL or 56K
Select normal or fast settings according to instructions.
This will bring up adjuster, blank boxes just mean default values are being used, click on save to registry at bottom and REBOOT for it to work, Please checkback for updates or reading. Before coming back, do this please: take our TCP/IP Analyzer test at top of Tweak Forum page so I can be sure patch is in.

At top where it says edit click and select, Select all,
Then go back to same edit button at top, click and select copy.
Come back to Speedguide, same thread you were on, in post reply box, with cursor blinking at begining of box go to top, edit, click, select paste, click, this will put information in box. Thank you.
If you installed the Web patch (Faster loading of web pages) you have to install it again as Cablenuts patch uninstalled it prior to installing his, all you have to do is go where you unzipped it to and click on it and reboot. Those who do not have patch go to main page this site, patch page go down until you see the one for your OS and download and install. Thank you
(NOTE: If you change RWIN size number you must change GlobalmaxWindosize to the same number)
Also you have to experiment to see which settings work best for you, normal or fast cable settings, I have seen people with 400 CPU get better speed with fast settings. If it does not work for you, go back to normal cable settings.
(NOTE) inside Cablenut 4.0 folder on desktop it says adjuster if you click on 4.0 on desktop. RIGHT click on adjuster and select shortcut to desktop, same with reboot.

Check back often for updates
:)

Also, I forgot:
How to remove @home proxy server
Posted by Cablenut:
Proxy servers are generally SLOWER for your web browsing. This is because it caches everthing to a remote server that is overloaded and just adds more hops in your path. They are intended to let the cable company watch where you go!

To disable proxy server of @homes, go to start, run,
type: regsvr32 -u ahiehelp.dll (Space between 2 and -) This will disable proxy for good. Go to Control Panel, internet options, connection at tab at top, LAN settings at bottom, click. Uncheck Automatic Detection and uncheck use proxy server, your done.
Nothing should be checked, reboot. :)

Turn out the lights, the parties over, yes please backup registry in it's default state, first before you do anything, do it twice, one to keep as default and one to update as you add new programs, a must for you tweakers :)

I had you mixed up with some one else but with a 1200 CPU you should I believe be on fast settings, leave globalmaxwindosize blank and try 385440 as DefaultRvcWindow, click save to registry at bottom of adjuster and reboot. You should run that system file checker once a week to see if your missing any files, all you should care about is Windows files and subfolders :)

ok its still all screwey
and now when i shut down or restart i get the BSOD
it always says it may be possible to continue
but when i do it gives me an error message that is the same message i get when i forget to turn off the monitor before i unplug it.
Signal out of range.
i seriously doubt its a virii or trojan or worm.(i have good protection for all)
maybe its a bad windows install??!?!?!?
Cox cable said it was my Windoze kernel
fxckit im going to reinstall winblowz
18.2 gigs left to backup... :p
