Downloads Crawling!!!!!

Post by rbtweak »

Can someone please help me? First off here is my problem. When I download (using DAP) I start off at 600K (depending on ping) then go to drop off to as low as 20.5K. This is using Super Acceleration. Don't even ask how slow it is using the Windows default download manager. I have Speedguides webpatch (Properly) installed. Also Cablenut 4.0 to 4.02 upgrade. I'm on Windows Me, 128megs RAM, RCA 2-way Cable (adelphia).

TCP options string = 020405b40103030301010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 513920
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 20556.8 kbps (2569.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 8222.72 kbps (1027.84 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 50 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Don't know if this will help but I browse on IE 6.0, Netscape 6.0, AOL 6.0 and Rapid Browser.

Thanks for any help in advance. :rolleyes: rbtweak@adelphia.net

Lower that RWIN to 385440 and Globalmax in Cablenuts adjuster to the same, click save to registry at bottom and reboot, see if that helps :)

Cablenuts patch you need 4.0 and 4xx to 4.02 if you don't have 4.0 installed, get it :)

Also try the setting right below super accelleration on DAP, I used to have DAP and someone got my credit card number and ordered a bunch of stuff off internet, so I got a spyware remover and sure enough, DAP was in there so I removed program, most download accelerators are spyware so be carefull, haven't had any credit card problems since and yes I have firewall, one charge they made with my number was for $9,000 dollars, gee what a mess it was, just be carefull, type spyware in search box for more info, an yes sometimes lowering RWIN will make you go faster :) :)

Thanks for the tip my connection rocks! My connection dowloaded 5.28 Meg file @ a ping of 110ms @ 1278-K/s @ 2:00pm. Not bad huh? As for the tip on DAP. Luckily for me I don't believe in credit cards. They can't charge aanything. Sorry to hear about that. Hopeyou prosecuted or at least contacted the BBB. Thanks for the tip again :p rbtweak@adelphia.net

Just leave globalmax box blank as it is not spelled right, it wont hurt speed, won't hurt anything, save to registry at bottom, reboot :eek: Yea sometimes smaller RWIN's are quicker, no packet loss :)
