You say you downloaded patch, but not which one, I assume speed patch, OK first you need to backup registry as is, here's how:
This is a must unless you the future in want to format because you did not do it, please do this. First bring up REGEDIT, type REGEDIT in your run box and hit OK.
Under Registry at the top of the box, click on that, now click on Export Registry File, a box will come up asking where you want to export it to, just put it in your C drive, then name it at the bottem of box Default Registry plus date. Click on ALL at the bottom so it copies all of your registry.
Click on save. Do not update this copy, update copy 2.
Now if you ever get in trouble or want the old regestry back, bring REGEDIT back up and click on Registry and click on import registry file, go to your C drive and click on registry and click open, reboot and your good to go.
Anytime you add a new program, backup again, any program, back it up to the same place as the last one, it will overwrite it. If you do not backup after each new program is instaled you will not have those setting's in regestry if you have to backup for some reason.
Do this 2 times, one to save as default, the other to update as neccessary, Call first one -default, second-updated registry so you know which is which, you may add the date too.

Do nothing else in this box as it is the heart of your computer, just what it says above and no more!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now you need to download back to default patch from patch page this site, DON'T install, just download as this patch only takes out what speedguides patch puts in,
then you need to do this:Go to main page this site, select patches on left side of page,
go down until you see Web Patch - faster loading of Web Pages
Select the one for your OS, and download.
To install, click on what you just downloaded-unzip to program files, go there and click on it, click yes and reboot, your done. This way all you wil have to do is run back to default patch on updated backup copy of registry if need be
:) :)

You also need to do this so I can see if patch is in right:
:1. Go to top of page and click on TCP/IP Analyzer
2. Copy all this by highlighting everything in box with mouse
(you may have to make box smaller. To copy contents of box, highlight, then hit Ctrl & c, on your keyboard, when you return to Speedguide in reply box, with cursor blinking, hit Ctrl & v, this will copy contents in box so I may look at it. Thank you.
X out your IP Address

Oh man, thaksalot for taking care of me!!
I just d-loaded the "sguide_default_9x.zip"
file, and am about to extract and run-it!!
If you read my previous post CAREFULLY, you
will notice that I already have 'patched' my
system with the 'speed' patch !!!
What I wanted to know is how to REMOVE the
patch. Your 'default' file should take care
of that am I right ?!?
You ALSO explained to me how to backup my
registry... this is GREAT.!! and simple ..
Thanksalot Lobo,
Richard :-)
While we're at-it, how does this look to you?

SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer
TCP properties for IP = 24.202.69.186
Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 8760
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 8760
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 350.4 kbps (43.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 140.16 kbps (17.52 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 114 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

Lobo, my friend, your reply is:
Just put arrow from mouse in front of IP click, then hit backspace key

My reply to this is:
Where is the IP you're talking about??

You need to print this for future use, no speed tests at this hour:
How do do speed test
1. The best time is early in the morning (3 AM - 6 AM)
2. Make sure defrag has been run so no files are fragmented
3. Delete Temp internet files, not while testing, but after each test. IE browser, click tools, internet options, click on delete files and no this will not harm system, just get rid of temp files
4. Go to a fast server such as www.happypuppy.com and click on 10 demos, select a LARGE file to download (not all of it , just most of it, before you click cancel) this will show you how fast you are downloading, it's not going to be quick except except early in morning when not many people on net. I recommend you go to www.analogX.com and download Net State live, run this while downloading as it will give you avg of your download speed, really all you need on Net Stat is incoming data, incoming totals and Local machine, right click on Net Stat anywhere, stactics and check these 3 items, the rest need not be checked unless you want them, all you care about is average.
Put system defrag in scheduled tasks to run everyday.
5. Probably the most important, nothing can be running during test, no firewalls, no virus stuff, no ICQ, no AIM (some of you may have to go into BIOS to disable virus scanner, nothing running except Net Stat live
Scheduled tasks will run disk defrag, 98 & SE in Taskbar, WIN ME in control panel
The people who want speed surfing or doing whatever must close all other programs.
(NOTE: at present time www.AOL.com seems to be fastest download site, at bottom download aol 6.0)
Or if you wish you may go to www.testmyspeed.com and do one of the online tests, these vary to much for me but you may like them. Another one is at www.dslreports.com/tools

Lobo, I noticed that you tell members to
unzip the speed-patch in program files,
I unzipped mine in a temp folder, then I merge the file, and then I delete it !!...
Is there a problem to this ??
Richard.

O.K. Lobo, I re-ran the downloaded zip file
and installed-it in Program Files..
It created a file called sguide_webtweek.reg
Then I right-clicked on this file and selected MERGE..
It asked "are you shure that you want to copy to the registry..." and I selected YES.
Then is said that it had done just that...
Then I rebooted the system..
Then I got another Jack Daniel :-)
Then I ran the TCP IP Analyser again and here
are the results:
TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Thanksagain Lobo,
Richard.

Look I'm out of here so I will leave you some what ifs, if your RWIN number is 65535 on test go to main page this site, patch page go down till you see this patch:SpeedGuide Web Patch - Windows 95/98/98SE/ME this is the one you need. When patch is in right RWIN nunber will read 256960. Come back here before you do anything else

Gee still not in, OK we will try another patch, a good one, and if you are running SE you just need 4.0 and the Vtcp386 for 98, do this:
First go to www.cablenut.com , click on software at top of page
Download 4.0
His patch will uninstall previous patchs
Install 4.0
(NOTE) If you are running WIN 98 or SE, you need to download and install Vtcp386 for patch for 4.0 to work.
Then on desktop click on cablenut 4.0
Click on ccs files
then click on cable
Select fast cable 9x
this will enter settings
click on save to registry at bottom, reboot or it will not work.

If you decide to remove Cablenut's patch, use uninstaller in Cablenut 4.0 folder on desktop. This will take you back to Windows default.
Retest and repost so I can see if patch is in Copy all this by highlighting everything in box with mouse
(you may have to make box smaller. To copy contents of box, highlight, then hit Ctrl & c, on your keyboard, when you return to Speedguide in reply box, with cursor blinking, hit Ctrl & v, this will copy contents in box so I may look at it. Thank you.
Click on Cablenut 4.0 on desktop, RIGHT click on adjuster and select short cut to desktop, the same with Reboot.

CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES
Would not be bad idea to bookmark this page so you can return for updates or reading

I will wait for you to install, be sure to reboot before testing
:) :)

And where do I get the vtcp386..?
and do I apply this before.. or.. after the
Cablenut 4.0 patch.
Richard :-)
P.S. If I may put forward a bit of personal philosophy:
"If the world is ran by computers... then we're in deep **** "
:-)

You get both patches at his site, both are exe files, download both install vtcp386 then 4.0 :p

Just to keep you 'up to date'
I've just installed the 386 file, and rebooted my system..
then I installed cablenut 4.0 and I am about to follow your instructions..
click on css files...then click on cable
