sssnet cable modem, says it's ppp. which patch to use

Post by turbojohn »

Hey all i'm new here and have a cable modem through sssnet here locally (which btw sucks badly compared to r.r.) I have the patch installed for M.E. for the regular protocol but I noticed on there user info that they use ppp protocol. The ppp patch says not for cable modems though ?
thanks for any input.

You'd only want to use the PPPoE patch for some DSL connections! If you have to dial up to establish a connection then maybe you'd use it. Being on cable, I highly doubt it.
Does this help explain this any better? ;)

I kind of jumped the gun on that posting. I'll give you a link that better describes PPP protocol. Hopefully that will clear this up for you. You should be fine with the ME patch. Just be sure to back up your registry before making any changes.
