Help! I need to tweak my DirecPC satellite connection!

I am currently downloading about 10-20 KiloBytes/sec. I am supposed to be at about 400kbps and have tried using the speed patches here but to no avail. Here are my TCP/IP results:

TCP options string = 020405500103030201010402

MTU = 1400
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput.

MSS = 1360
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1360, which is equal to MSS.
MSS is not fully optimized for broadband (although it might work well for slower connections). Consider increasing your MTU value.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 32768
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 8192
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
522240 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 8)
261120 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 4)
130560 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 2)
65280 (MSS x 48)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1310.72 kbps (163.84 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 524.288 kbps (65.536 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 121 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

This test does not show that any of our patchs are installed, plus I don't believe we make one for your type of connection

In addition to what Lobo said: remember that 10KBps = 80kbps. So if you're downloading between 10-20KBps, you're running 80-160kbps.. or less than half of what you say you should be experiencing. I'd be contacting my provider

Go ahead and try sguide Patch for your os. back reg up first. My neighbor has a direct drop from his satilite for internet. He tried the sguide patch for 98 and it worked great for him. He use direct PC from his satilite Provider. He tried it on a fluke thinking it was for Satilite someone had given him it and told him it was. GoodLuck!
