what is happening!? argh!

Post by coolitebrite »

TCP options string = 020405b4

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 49152
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 49152
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1966.08 kbps (245.76 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 786.432 kbps (98.304 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = OFF

Time to live left = 51 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = OFF

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

i am using the cablenut 4.02 patch and i set my DefaultRcvWindow to 256960 but the speed guide analyzer says it's at 49152!!!

i even checked my registry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP
DefaultRcvWindow and it says 256960... WHAT SHOULD I DO?

First you do not have Cablenuts patch installed, lets install his patch first and go from ther, do this:
desktop click on cablenut 4.0
Click on ccs files
then click on cable
Select fast cable 9x
this will enter settings
click on save to registry at bottom, reboot or it will not work
Retest, repost :)
Also with 4.0 users of ME need to download and install 4xx to 4.02 :)

oh ya... once i get this problem fixed... i was wondering if u were being sarcastic when u wrote this in ur other post--->

"Yes please tell us, I can change my MTU back from 7500, RWIN 999999. don't keep it a secret, hehe"

oh! i found out why the speedguide analyzer read 49152 as my RWIN... it's because i set my ie.5.5 LAN settings to use "automatic configuration script address: http://proxy:8080 so i was wondering if i should turn it off or on in order for my tweaks to work...

Now you go back to other post and enter OS
and I have no idea about the MTU thing or what you are talking about, but the highest you can set it to is 1500, you may set it at anything you like but it will only read it as 1500 :)

Yes even though you have deleted the @home software do this, reboot, retest, repost:
To get rid of @home proxy server do this
Start, Run, and type: regsvr32 -u ahiehelp.dll
This will disable proxy server.
In control panel, internet options, connecions, LAN settings,
take check mark out of ALL boxes (yes auto detect too)
Reboot
:)

well i used to get 2megs in 8 seconds but 24 is alright... before today my dl was 2megs in 60 seconds!

TCP options string = 020405b40103030401010402

TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

do u suggest any improvements? im trying differnet RWIN scales but 1027840 and 513920 are giving me the same performance...

733 is the CPU size, whos RWIN is that belong to

You need to install Cablenuts fast cable settings and quit playing with that RWIN number, your speed test was not good at all, due to that RWIN

Yes this is not time for testing and leave the settings alone till you know what you are doing, downloading fast when you have high pings or packet loss means you have messed up bad, if you want to check pings or packet loss go to www.dsl.reports/tools and take tweak test
