I wanted to seperate all the computer in my house on a different subnet... I have 4 computer... this is the setup
1st comp
win2000server
one nic dynamic ip to road runner
second nic static ip (192.168.0.1) to lan
gateway setting (192.168.0.100)
2nd comp
winnt4.0 server
one nic static (192.168.0.100)
second nic static (192.168.1.1)
third nic static (192.168.2.1)
Forward ip enabled on all three nic
3rd comp
winnt4.0 server
one nich static (192.168.2.100)
gateway setting (192.168.2.1)
4th comp
win2000advserv
one nic static (192.168.1.100)
gateway setting (192.168.1.1)
I have one patch cable form 1st comp (ip 192.168.0.1) to 2nd compie (ip 192.168.0.100)
I have one 8 port switch
I used cat5 cable from 2nd comp from (ip 192.168.1.1 and ip 192.168.2.1) to the hub..
and then i used the same cable form 3rd and 4th computer to the hub....
For some reason, sometimes i'll be able to ping the first computer from any other computer, but i cannot ping a computer other than the router and it self....
but other computer from different subnet have no problem pinging the first computer...
I had it to work one time but suddenly the router (2nd comp) crach and i have to reboot and then everything stop...... back to where it was... now i am stuck.... I set everything exactly the same as my school environtment, but for some reason i must have miss something...... can anybody help me??
also, another think that i was planning to do, i set up the first comp to use nat..., and i am trying to figure out a way so all the computer in my network will be able to share access to the web....
Somebody please help, i tried to do this for 2 days and still cant figure it our...
