It looks like Mr. and Mrs. Easto might have a nice quiet Memorial Day together alone. We just spent a week of graduation parties and cleaning the house and I think we're going to have the place to ourselves. This year I want to do a traditional BBQ with burgers, corn on the cob (bbq'd), potato salad etc.
While it is never easy, I go visit my neighbor, best friend, fellow Marine. This year marks 40 years since his death. I held him as he took his last breath. I still dream of him.
My grandfather fought in WWI. He passed away in the mid 80's. He had a flag pole in his front yard and raised the flag every day of his life. My mother told me a story that when WWII began he went down to re-enlist and they turned him down due to his age and when he came home my mother had never seen him so upset. He joined the Civil Service as a Ham Radio Operator and continued to conduct weekly tests with all the other ham radio operators in his group up until his death.
I went up to NYC for a week with the family for my older daughter's graduation, she got a Masters' Degree in graphic design from one of the top schools in her field up there, proud of her.
