Web access from LAN

Post by Easto »

My Asus router gives me the ability to disable Web access from LAN. Is this a good idea? I don't see me ever needing it and figure it will enhance my security somewhat.

I wouldn't. You can disable admin access from the WAN side (which should already be the default), but the LAN side admin access is very useful and sometimes necessary. You can have it password-protected so in theory it is safe from the small number of clients on your LAN. You can use it for troubleshooting connectivity issues, to see what clients are connected to it, etc.
