Need help configuring IRQ's!! for NIC

Post by Everlast25 »

OK--I installed a D link DFE530TX + NIC card and it attached itself to IRQ3--which is also shared by my ultra 66 ide controller card...This is not going to work with win 98. I have a dell p3 550 and I was wondering how I can specifically assign an IRQ to my NIC card. Why it attached itself to IRQ3 when 4 and 14 are totally free is beyond me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know how to do this in software in win98 but not in the bios. I spoke with dell tech support and they were useless. \
Thanks,
G

Most motherboards have PCI-slots wich shares the same IRQ.
Just replace your NIC in another PCI-slot!

you may not be able to change the irq but
you can change the I/O range if you are getting a conflict. Open device manager, find the device you are refering to, highlight it then select prperties or double click on it. click the resources tab, uncheck auto settings box then highlight I/O range then click change settings. Use the arrows to find a range that does not conflict.
