[HELP] Need some help with TCP analyzer results

Post by dr0832 »

Hi I am looking to tweak my settings with TCP Optimizer and need some help. I have a 1 gigabit connection however this computer is connected through wifi so it's a lot slower. Just trying to speed things up:

Have you applied the "optimal" settings in the TCP Optimizer?
If you have, please provide some more info. Is the slowdown only occurring only with a wireless client, while wired devices are fast? What is your Wireless Router, how far is it from the client?

No I did not apply the optimal settings. I am not sure what settings to do for the BDP. The slowdown is occurring on wifi only. I would say it's 35 ft from the router, on the same floor, but there are some walls. I have a Panoramic router from Cox. My connection is gigabit but on wifi I get about 350 mbps if I am right near the router but only 160 mbps if I am 35 ft away.

Any ideas?

That is pretty normal for WiFi.. Unless you have a new 802.11 AC router, and are using 5GHz for the client device, with a network adapter capable of multiple streams possibly.

Also, most servers won't be able to serve you higher speeds, so it may be a mute point unless you are doing video streaming in Ultra-HD, or something bandwidth-intensive like that. In such a case, wired gigabit may be a more economical solution.
