Hi everybody :
I've been having a problem with "Page Cannot Be Displayed" for (about) a month. I ran a Norton 360 scan......found nothing wrong. Via Norton, I did a Registry scan, found only one error.......something to do with an invalid entry (or link). Through my online research, I looked at the settings in INTERNET OPTIONS. Tried adjusting (safely) a few settings. After that, I noticed that my internet connection was still okay. Just having those "dropouts" every once in a while.....the "Page Cannot Be Displayed" errors. Until I purchase another subscription to the Geek Squad, I'm trying to find out what's causing this. An infection, maybe ? Or PUAs ? Any advice ?

I did that, and the result was a connection . My ATT (ISP) provider, apparently, doesn't have the level of training to solve the problem of dropouts.Philip wrote:Do you still have some type of internet connectivity when it happens ? For example, drop to command prompt and type: tracert speedguide.net (or tracert 68.67.73.20 ).

If you can connect via tracert/ping to both speedguide.net and the IP address, it means that it is not a DNS issue. I would try to connect using a different browser as well to see if the problem is browser-specific. If you can trace/ping that means you are connected to the internet. Sometimes malware removal or browser junkware can cause such issues, resetting the browser to its defaults may help as well.

I also did two scans. One using Anti-Malware, and Two, using Norton 360. Norton came up clean. Anti-Malware DID find a PUP virus. Which was quarantined, and I opted to DELETE it from the System. So far, my machine is pretty clean. As you know, there can only be two sides on this issue. My machine on one side, and my ISP on the other. One or the other is causing the problem. Until I get another subscription to the Geek Squad, I'd like to find a diagnostic software that would be able to "analyze" my hardware (in relation to network connection).
