Netflix cutting out

Post by Easto »

We have a Samsung "Smart" TV. A D-Link DIR655 router. I've never had one problem obtaining access to my wireless with any or our devices i.e. iPad, iPhone, Android Phone, multiple Windows laptops but for some reason and appears for no reason we'll be anywhere in a movie on Netflix and the TV loses its connection. The thing that makes it even more baffling is that the TV is in "line of sight" of the router. I have the router signal turned up to High.

What am I missing?

I would do a tracert and a speedtest when the issue is occurring, also check the signal levels on your modem at the time of the problem. It could be a wireless issue, but it is a bit harder to troubleshoot. You have to test with other wifi clients (to determine whether it's the client NIC or a router issue), you can test with another router, wired vs wireless, etc. In other words, you have to test and determine:

1. Is it the Internet connection, or your local LAN that's the problem.
2. If it is the LAN, is it the router or the client, is it wifi issue or not.

I'm going to snag a long piece of Cat 6 from work and hardwire the thing to see if that makes a difference.
