Thank you All for your Well Wishes & Prayers. I do appreciate your kindnesses.

I was fortunate enough to have a couple of very talented heart specialists on my side this past week. Dr. Vladimir Dzavik, BSc, FRCPC, MD assisted by Dr. H.A. Hadi at the Division of Cardiology, Toronto General Hospital & their Team of talented Technicians.

These brilliant people ended up putting 4 stents in my heart, 3 in the front & 1 in the back during a 4 hour operation. This was considered a high risk procedure and i was told it had a minimum 20% risk factor, but my odds by not addressing this problem where much, much higher in the short term if not tended to, so we got on with it.

The only pain felt was trying to remain motionless during this 4 hour time period as well as the 12 hour mandatory bed rest after. Also the putting in of the catheter required & its removal was a toe curler to be sure. :rotfl:

All went extremely well and i could feel the difference almost immediately. I went for a walk in the hall the next day and went a distance it normally would have taken me 3 or 4 rest stops to complete and without stopping I did the return walk as well.

Some kidney problems due to the amount of dye used during this lengthy procedure added a couple of extra days till my creatinine levels dropped back to normal. Went in on Thurs 13th and home today the 18th.

I am ever so grateful to the entire Hospital & its Staff for the gift they gave me.

Haven't felt this good in several years. :)

I thought perhaps it might let some folks know that miracles are happening daily in medicine BMED and those people with seemingly impossible challenges facing them might take heart in knowing their is help their that simply wasn't possible only a few short years prior.

Hell if they can reignite a fire in my furnace there is hope for all. :rotfl:

Stay still for four hours - are you saying you were awake during the procedure??

Hi 9mmprincess

Absolutely! The tough part is as you probably know that when laying still parts start to get a little uncomfortable & things start to itch at times for no reason and you want to scratch or move to make yourself more comfortable. My tailbone got quite sore from the way i was laying and it was a real distraction crying out for me to move to relieve the pressure. My left shoulder was the same as i have had rotator cuff surgery and it doesn't like to be put in some positions for long periods.

It's all a matter of mental toughness to try to block out the irritations and to remain calm and still so as to not endanger their work by moving. In a way it takes your mind off what is happening to you, but still hard to do.

There is no pain from the procedure or at least in my case there was not. They give you some stuff so you don't feel anything inside but definitely you do on the outside if you know what i mean.

This may help explain what i am trying to say?

Only when they where putting in and taking out my catheter CD. :rotfl:

Seriously CD i lucked out with a terrific bunch of nurses. My cellmate & i had a lot of fun with them. He was a retired cop in his 80's with a good sense of humour and between the 2 of us had them laughing all the time.

Glad to be back my friend :)

wow.. you've got guts :) I read that link, and it's so fascinating what medical science can do these days. Imagine telling the ancient Romans that one day we would stick tubes into our arteries and slide them up to our hearts and deposit metal tubes to keep the arteries around the heart open. They'd probably feed you to the lions for being insane.

Morning 9mmprincess

Didn't take any guts to have this procedure done 9mmprincess. I either lay still for 4 hours or not had it done and end up laying still for eternity. :rotfl:

Yes we have come a long way from leaches & witch doctors to todays impossible to comprehend procedures 9mmprincess. When it was explained to me my eyes kinda glassed over trying to pretent i knew all about it and understood everything they where about to do to me. Some clever Lads & Lassies involved in this and they act like its no big deal. Truly amazing.

Have a dandy day :thumb:
