Shopping for a new wood stove and I am leaning towards one brand but was wondering what peoples opinion is on any of these brands.

So... any opinions?

Thanks and hope you are all doing well!

Damnit, I had just decided on a Lopi with a slight possibility of the Kuma. Thanks though, that is the one I had never heard anything about

Been a long time fan of Jotul myself...especially if you like the fancy glossy design and colors. And Reginald (if you can find one) if you're looking for the old school lengthwise burners (super efficient ones).

If I could start over again I'd build a rocket stove:

Towards the end of that page, the pic/video of the " wood stove / rocket mass heater hybrid" ...that is the EXACT Reginald lengthwise burning stove I grew up with as a kid. My dad researched wood stoves like mad, looking for the most efficient ones (he was a mechanical engineer that oversaw the propulsion and weapons handling departments of EB for the 688 subs)...and he ended up getting that model for the house I grew up in.

That same model...wow, what a trip seeing a pic of it. Could load it up at night and it would still be going in the morning. Burned longer logs like cigarettes..from front to back. And the way it was chambered inside...the heat/smoke zig-zagged through that upper chamber on top to allow the cast iron to catch as much heat from the output of the fire..and emit it into the room.

The rocket stove looks interesting. Not for a rental that needs heat now though. I will look into it for my house though.

I don't know of a Jotul dealer around here I am willing to go to. I am trying to keep it to around 1300 or less.

Thaanks guys

Seems like a good review site: http://www.wiseheat.com/reviews-and-com ... ve_reviews

Or you could just tell him to suck it up and stick with the same POS I used.
