Winsock and TCP Stack Problems?

Post by Dale-C »

Hi guys,

Yesterday I uninstalled my NIC driver and reinstalled it (wasn't giving me advanced options in Device Manager) I'm running Windows 7.

After I reinstalled I ran Reset Winsock and and Reset TCP/IP from TCPOptimizer.

Well. After that there was no connections on my computer whatsoever. BFE had been disabled and same with DHCP and TCPIP services. Took me a while to find out what it was.

I enabled those 3 services and Windows said internet was all okay, but nothing worked on the internet. Windows Troubleshooting is useless, didn't find anything and when it did there was no kind of help.
I had an error saying Cannot Allocate Port or something.

I did multiple virus/spyware/malware scans and nothing came up. A program called FSS said that Localhost was blocked. I have no idea what that means.

I finally got onto the internet by merging some old reg keys from HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\tcpip\parameters

I noticed domain, hostname, ICSDomain and NVHostname were missing and now that they are back the internet now works. Kind of. Browsing works, but no other programs recognize that the internet is now online. Though Skype does sign in but it said can't access home server or something, MBAM won't update, and nothing works on Steam but Steam chat.

Ive tried ipconfig /release, /renew, /flushdns, /registerdns and even did Winsock and TCPIP resets again and it still doesn't work.

Could any of you guys help me out here?

Dale.
