whenever i try to connect to a server it gets stuck at initializing and downloading. can u help me???

hmm is ur firewall stopping it? r u maybe joining servers that hosts a map that you dont have ?
2.53 ghz p4 512mb ram.

Well if the Firewall is the answer, good for you but I do beliieve IE has something to do with it

If it's NOT the firewall than it is probably that your comp. is no fast enough to connect at once!
Try to connect in 2 times (I have the same probelem
)

My friend has that problem on dialup but when he got DSL it disapeared. I think it took too long to connect or something.

that isnt the problem i know cause it finishes connecting but then it like dies at initializing and downloading

What you can try is re-installing Half-life.....Sometimes files get changed and it does that. If this is counter-strike try erasing a file called custom.hpk in the Conuter-strike directory. Also there are a few things you can change in some other files which I do not know of off hand. Alot of the Half-life Counter-strike sites have a lot of good info.

Have you gotten the latest HL patch and whatnot? I assume so, since it's been out for months, just checking...
Can you serve games, will it get that far?
Does it work if you try it without the firewall?
