Recommendation for runnign HL server?

Post by HalfLifer »

What do you all recommend for running a HalfLife server? Im using the following:
Duron 600, ABIT KT7a, 328mb ram, Win2k. Is this sufficient for 16-20 players?

Your bandwidth will usually dictate the performance of a server before it's physical qualities do...unless you're talking about an LAN server here.

Key things

....good quality NIC for the server, like a 3COM 905/latest drivers/optimize the work load on the 3COM DIAG utility.

....lean out and optimize your OS, you can shut down tons of useless system resource hungry services
