Internet is melting down in Chicago!
I am getting updates from the network folks and we are nearing critical utilization. Everyone is home surfing the net and watching TV. What else is there to do? This storm has the potential to be the biggest in a long time if not in recent memory.
Of course us Headend Techs are expected to get to work even if it means strapping on tennis rackets and hoofing it.

That's anyone these days no matter if your 100% needed or not, but to be honest its not worth the travel out in something like this no matter what. I really wish there was some sort of law that would prevent companies from "forcing" you to work and when I mean by forcing, I'm talking about disciplinary action against you if you don't make it in in inclement weather no matter what the depth of snow or whatever is. If you wish to get there and you can safely then by all means go ahead but its your decision.

Comcast has been tearing up cable through our storms, not sure what they're doing.
Some companies allow it..not all and they should. Taking a personal day isn't always an option to many that have kids or take care of elderly parents and such. Allow people to take off without pay if they need to for inclement weather should be a law IMO...but anyways, keep that Comcast internet up can't miss my TF2 time

Hi all from Oklahoma City. Were shut down with only about 8 inch of snow. But we're not used to this. And we don't have billions of dollars worth of plows and sand and salt and employees to remove snow. Heck we have only a few plows. Mostly we have road graders. I came into work this morning because i have 25 years experience because of having lived in Connecticut for those 25 years. But I almost didn't make it. Ther are people here trying to make it into work on un-plowed streets. by 8:30 people were getting stuck everywhere.
