Help finding a working driver for an older sound card for Win 7

Post by velvta »

I use a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. The device hasnt been supported in years and I was wondering if anyone can help me with finding a way to get the drivers working in windows 7 x64?

32-bit & 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 and Windows Vista are available for the following products: AA_Micro, AA_Micro II, AA_Amigo, AA_SRM, AK-R8, Riviera and Montego DDL. All other "Turtle Beach" and "Voyetra" Hardware and Software Products (including the Video Advantage Capture series) were discontinued long before the release of these technologies, so they are not supported and they will not function in these systems.

Yeah i saw that. I also saw some random posts on forums talking about people who have attempted using the drivers and getting them to run anyway on win7x64 but I was having no luck. i was wondering if anyone here knew any possible workarounds or anything.

Your likely going to have to replace the card.. I think I looked around a while back for one myself but no luck.

People have gotten the drivers to work in windows 7 32bit, but not 64bit. There are some great sound cards that have to die with XP sadly.

Question, what about Ac97? Is that onboard audio? It's enabled in the bios and detected in device manager but still no sound...

Typically AC97 was used in mobo's, however some cards and even some modems used it as well... It is quite old and was replaced by HD about 6 years ago. (Intel developed that standard in 1997, thus the AC 97...)

Does your mobo have onboard sound? If so, did you disable it in BIOS before trying those drivers that you said wouldn't work?
To be honest, if your mobo has onboard sound, it is probably HD and may be better than that card anyway, depending on your mobo...

Assuming his mobo is the one in his sig his onboard audio is a RealTek ALC65X, which seems to be based on the AC97 codec.

Yeah, I saw that, except he lists that computer as having XP SP2, and he is looking for drivers for Win 7 x64... It could be the same computer though...
