What a way to quit a job!! I would have loved to have seen it! I know a guy that is a flight attendant and he constantly complains about rude people that don't listen when they are on the plane or constantly puts things that fall back out of a over head compartment. Sounds like this guy had too much when he got hit in the head and the lady didn't say anything but curse him out after he asked for a apology. I wonder with the support he's getting will some big shot lawyer step up and help him out, keep him out of jail. Nice to bring out the SWAT team too and waste all that tax money lol wow...
Everybody has a fantasy about how to leave their job when the day-to-day pressure gets to be too much. Anyone familiar with the frustrations of air travel, therefore, can relate to the tale of Steven Slater.
Slater's MySpace page shows a man who seemed to love his job as a flight attendant. Yet actions that resulted in his arrest Monday afternoon show a man pushed over the edge, reports CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller.
JetBlue flight 1052 from Pittsburgh had just landed at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. A passenger who refused Slater's instructions to stay seated, and got up to reach for luggage in an overhead compartment.
The passenger apparently struck the flight attendant in the head while removing a bag. Upset, Slater asked for an apology, and instead, the passenger told Slater off.
Slater then got on the plane's public address system and announced:
"To the passenger who called me a 'm***** f*****,' f*** you!"
He then reportedly said, "I've been in the business 28 years. That's it. I'm done."
In an escape fit for the movies, Slater opened an exit door and inflated the plane's evacuation slide, grabbed two beers, and simply slid away . . . leaving the passengers (and his career) behind.
Slater then left the airport and headed to his home in the Belle Harbor section of Queens. Authorities tracked him down and descended upon him with what neighbors call "the full force of the New York City Police Department."
"They were all over the place," the neighbor said. "SWAT teams, it looked like, there were helicopters, everything."
A JetBlue flight attendant blew his top, grabbed some beer and bolted out an emergency slide at Kennedy Airport Monday - then headed home to have sex with his boyfriend.
I'd love to see her get nailed with a huge fine and they back off the guy for doing what he did prob after he paid some sort of "stuffing the slide back in the plane" fee. I'm sure if they slapped a fee on him for that someone will step up and pay it for him. JetBlue may even just drop everything since they are getting alot of publicity from it.
