i dont know any but also what res are you running in? you can also just type cl_showfps 1 in the console and it puts your fps in the left top corner. also i have a pretty good pc and i limit my fps in games you really dont need more than 50-60fps in games.

Hi, you should check if you have something speed dragging in the game enabled. I had similar problems with the Netgraph in CS. Your Netgraph should be turned off or set at "3". Go to the console and type "netgraph 3". It disables the graphical netgraph mode, but you can still see your fps and ping.
If not check your config file for the right values. There are tousands of Clan-pages wich show how to tweak your settings in the game and your graphic card settings. Make sure you´re graphic driver settings are the right ones for the game (antialiasing for example swallows fps) or run it in 16 Bit mode instead of 32 Bit.
Check it out !!!

Which video mode? Direct3D, OpenGL, or Software? You should be getting higher than that.

Also shut down unnecessary programs while running HL. Ram you're set on, processor should be good, video card should be good... How well do other games run?

I forgot to mention that I have tried running them in DIrect3D and on software to see if it helped, but OpenGL gave me the best performance.

I had the same problem, and its directly related to the voodoo5 card..I had the same one, and unfortunately there is no more support for this card since 3dfx went under (last driver update was around dec last yr).

The recent model and map visual upgrades that they made to TFC kill the voodoo cards, and I couldnt find anything except reducing screen resolution that helped.

I broke down and bought a geforce card which gives me 80+ wonderful frames without any problem

hey SuperYo. It's not the card. I have a voodoo 5 myself and have no trouble with open gl. my framrates are always great! i don't really play cs or tf, but i have played them and had good framrates. i did notce on 3dfx's website, there are some beta drivers. DO NOT USE THEM!!!! I had problems with those. What driver set are you using?

i just noticed your pc specs. a friend told me that celeron and voodoo 5 don't work well together. don't know if that is true or not. it might be something to check out.

my specs
500mhz athlon
128 ram
voodoo 5

u might try these drivers...

http://www.wicked3d.com/technology/wickedgl.htm

i use them with my celey/v5 and it works pretty good. i get like 50-80fps. keep in mind that u dont get that much detail out of 32bit graphics in q3...i would try to run all graphics at 16bit. IMO the difference in picture quality is not worth the performance hit. also go to your config and change these:

seta com_blood 0
seta com_gibs 0
seta com_hunkmegs 128 //(this may or may not help you, it just feels better)

and turn off all the game options that u dont really need(i.e. ejecting brass, dynamic lights, marks on walls, etc.) those are for show not performance. also make sure u are not using AntiAliasing . that is a huge performance hit on my celey.
