lost password on a gateway laptop

Post by cammy96tears »

my brother inlaw handed me a gateway laptop w/ windows xp, he had a new, ( I doubt it was new) harddrive installed and I was working on it , it said it was missing drives and when I put in the recovery disc this laptop wanted the Master HDD password to access the pc. I can't find this Master HDD password anywhere, it's been lost. please, can anyone help? This GateWay laptops Model number is MX6124, the serial number is T375A11006016. I am desparate, and toally frustrated with this laptop, i hate to think a pc can beat me. Is there possibly a reset button on this laptop? Thankyou... :crash:

You may be able to reset the cmos, just open the laptop and pull the little watch battery out while also making sure its unplugged and the large battery is removed of course. Also if this doesn't work, you can flash the bios and that may clear it.
